re: Wheel of Time Season 2
Posted by GridIronTigerBaw on 10/2/23 at 10:39 pm to A12 Oxcart
I completed the book series not too long ago.
Season 1 was absolute shite, but I love the wheel of time world and just watched casually.
Season 2 has been markedly better.
However the show does not tell the same story as the book. It’s like a different story in the same world. That’s going to piss off a lot of people who read the books and apparently a lot of people who didn’t. I’m just enjoying it for what it is.

Regarding chainlink, I’ve been seeing tons of buzz on twitter. Does anyone have a basic explanation of what is happening for someone who might not be as tech savvy? I’ve been diving in a bit but having a hard time understanding.

Just a party of hopeless losers.
I hate everyone on this stage

Except Desantis, Vivek, and maybe Scott. Just disgusted with where we are at.

Been following this thread for ages and have a good friend who has been deep in this but I have no position. What is y’all’s thoughts about current levels? Seems to be kind of in the middle of a bigger range and maybe heading back to the lows if nothing announced? I want to start a position.

Aging parents for both my wife and me. Have 4 of them all in or approaching their 80s.
Also have two very successful companies thriving in New Orleans that afford me a great lifestyle in a pretty safe area. 4 kids in private schools they enjoy.
But we hate it here. It’s not as simple as this board makes it out to be to just leave for a lot of people though. Very hard to abandon your parents in their 80s.

re: How to avoid some of the misery involved with rehab after injury
Posted by GridIronTigerBaw on 5/19/23 at 11:14 am to Purplehaze
Most people, if they have someone to help them at home, are far better off getting home health and getting TF out of the hospital/SNF/inpatient rehab. It’s supposed to be for very low level (physically) people.
re: Anyone had a young dog with hip dysplasia?
Posted by GridIronTigerBaw on 5/1/23 at 10:36 pm to jlovel7
Not reading all that but had a shepherd mix who dislocated her hip while about 9 months old while I was in college.
Vet said put her down or get the hip fixed. Had the surgery and spent 4-6 wks in the kennel. Was completely broke in college, so we had a keg party to raise money and roommates and friends pooled money to get the surgery done. Had to carry her down the stairs at Brightside to piss and shite. Was rough for a few wks but went on to live a great life for 13 years.
Ended up being the best dog I have ever had. On some level, the dog understood how we took care of it and was the best pet I’ve ever been around.

It’s funny because with all these 3-4x winners I still can’t tell if the sport in Louisiana is much better or much worse than it was 20 years ago.
I could count the number of people who won 3x on one hand from 2000-2010. Now it seems like every school has a 3-4x winner every few years. Not sure if the overall talent is way better or way worse.

Hate to be a dick, but being undefeated or winning multiple state titles in D1 vs D2 or D3 is not even comparable.
Back in the 2000s St. Paul’s was D2. They had a bunch of guys who were 2-3x state champions in D2. They moved to D1, and most of them either didn’t place or got 5th/6th in D1.
It’s still something to be proud of but it’s a different animal.

There is a tiebreaker criteria but I’m not sure what it is in a tournament. In a dual meet it goes by which team had the most pins, then most technical falls, then major decisions. Not sure if a tournament format would be determined the same way but they wouldn’t have had co champions.

They called locking hands and awarded the other kid a point. Then it was 10-10 and the other kid was on bottom, got an escape, and was up 11-10. Other kid stalled out for the remaining 20 seconds.
The only problem is there was no locking hands. It changed the whole match and had Catholic won that match the team score would have been tied.

Hangover haven my 8 year old is at the crusader club. Enjoys it for what it is but I’m not getting too crazy with it yet. No tourneys, just some scrimmages. Honestly I think a bad asswhipping at 8 in a tournament would be horrible for their confidence at that age and probably have the opposite effect. I think middle school is the right time to push it a little more.

Catholic 120 or 126 got screwed. Cost him an individual title and the team title. Phantom locking hands call that cost him the match and 4 team points.

Former state champ for Bro Martin in the early 2000’s here. The sport actually seems to be more popular than when I was in high school and I attribute it to kids’ clubs. My sons are checking it out before middle school and I see tons of young kids into it. It’s grueling, so I’m sure most won’t see it through until high school but I think it can only help them with other sports as it develops coordination, toughness, etc.
