The kid I’m referring to is a 4 time D1 state winner and 4 time Louisiana classic winner.

I understand your point about the D2 and D3 winners.

It’s funny because with all these 3-4x winners I still can’t tell if the sport in Louisiana is much better or much worse than it was 20 years ago.

I could count the number of people who won 3x on one hand from 2000-2010. Now it seems like every school has a 3-4x winner every few years. Not sure if the overall talent is way better or way worse.

The top flight kids are better. Louisiana as a whole sucks so the better kids train out of state and then beat the crap out of the traditional Louisiana wrestlers. It’s the fricked up way of kids sports today.

Yeah I would agree with that. Seems to be very very top heavy.

Why wouldn’t that match happen? Both undefeated in the state with no one challenging either?

I guess he's not cutting weight anymore..

He did in the past and missed tournaments.

Unfortunately I can say this is true, but Louisiana kids are getting more experience in the mid-west with traveling teams.

We had two teams at Deep South in Birmingham over the summer, and did very well finishing in the top five with one team.

Team that won it recruited state champs from Tennessee and Georgia.

The Frost brothers from Holy Cross left to finish their senior year at a Catholic school in Iowa, both of them now are at Iowa St.

Pretty good stuff on VSN's twitter.

Actually took 14 years.

But in my day we owned that title. I wrestled in the mid 2000s.

Updated tally:
Holy Cross 25 titles
Jesuit 24 titles
Brother Martin 21 titles

FHS with state champs in 106 and 152! Huge day for the team. Go Bulldogs!

We knew there was a great chance for this to happen. Two great young men who also happen to be excellent wrestlers. The school only had two previous state champs, one in 2003 and one in 2015.
