Should Tulane or ULL pursue Big 12 membership?

Tulane needs to act now to use the Cotton Bowl to their advantage
That gets Big 12 into Sec territory and a new market

Same thread every year
No, the Big 12 does not want either school.

You are correct. Neither school brings enough eye balls to the TV to justify dividing the revenue with another school. Has little to nothing to do with quality of their programs.

UL can't ever get there because they can't just embrace who they are now. They try so hard to be something they aren't it literally turns fans away. I live in Lafayette and don't even go to the games anymore. They make you park outside the gates because those places are reserved for 'athletic foundation members' but half the parking lot right by the stadium is empty. So you gotta walk a mile to your seat to watch some Sun Belt football? Nah bro, hard pass. Athletic department lost something like 10 million this past year.
Edit - just want to add that the stadium was barely even half full on gamedays even when Napier was there. Now? The attendance is next to last in the SUN BELT.

Tulane would be a better fit in the ACC, but a Big 12 invite would obviously work.
USL has zero chance of a Big 12 bid.

Would've been worse without football though.
Agreed on most of the situation you described, but you're not walking a mile. It's a 4-5 minute walk from the lot across the street to the stadium.
You left off the concessions are kinda shite, the bathrooms are very small, and the product on the field is headed the wrong direction.

What incentive is there to the big12 to take programs like these?

Walk a mile? You park across the street if you don't have a pass.

LA Tech is more qualified for the Big XII than USL is.

It's not just across the street. They can't put 10,000 people right next to the street. It's still not a mile I exaggerated that a bit, but why even? Plenty of parking for everyone INSIDE the gates. Like did they really think 40,000 people were going to show up? Because that is what it looks like to me. Need to embrace who they are.
Just to give the folks on the other side of the river some perspective. Napiers last game was the Sun Belt Championship game at home in which UL won. 30,000 people attended, stadium capacity is somewhere around 40,000. So the biggest game in UL football of the past decade and the stadium was 3/4 full

The weenies are always going to have problems being invited to any major conference because of the size of their stadium. Home & home guarantees need to be similar & a home game pay off at a 40K stadium will not generate enough revenue in that regards. As well, the USL program's issue with consistent Power 5 -like W / L success is what the weenies need to show, i.e. not just a one-season flash in the pan.

Most of the parking spots inside of the stadium are reserved for purchased parking passes. The issue they faced is that while people purchased the passes, they didn't show up to every game. Hence, the empty parking spots. I believe they are addressing that for next season and will try to create some general admission parking inside the gates for a fee.
As far as capacity, 40,000 was always too big, but the reality is that they built the end zone seating in anticipation of a stadium renovation which would bring capacity down a little bit. This was also during a time when 30,000 were showing up more on a regular basis during the beginning of the Hud years. Now that they're moving forward with it, expect capacity to be decreased to around 30-34,000 which is where it needs to be IMO.

This is the gripe I have with LSU fans about UL. Why are you punching down? What's the point exactly of calling it USL? They averaged 14,000 people at their home games this year. Because they don't like LSU? Which of the 14,000 people that don't like LSU are you most concerned with? Would it kill you to just call them UL or GOD FORBID Louisiana

Big12 wants nothing to do with either of those schools.
Big 12 would dip into Florida again before even thinking about a Louisiana school.

I could see Tulane and Louisiana Tech ahead of ULL for Big12 - but I don’t believe any LA school would really be considered.
