Most of the parking spots inside of the stadium are reserved for purchased parking passes. The issue they faced is that while people purchased the passes, they didn't show up to every game. Hence, the empty parking spots. I believe they are addressing that for next season and will try to create some general admission parking inside the gates for a fee. As far as capacity, 40,000 was always too big, but the reality is that they built the end zone seating in anticipation of a stadium renovation which would bring capacity down a little bit. This was also during a time when 30,000 were showing up more on a regular basis during the beginning of the Hud years. Now that they're moving forward with it, expect capacity to be decreased to around 30-34,000 which is where it needs to be IMO.

Yea, I'm from Lafayette, my dad is an alum who has a parking pass. I've been to a billion UL football games. I get that it's to generate income, but I think it's having biggest negative impact on fan experience of anything else. There are other things they could do besides the parking passes for $500 donation to the athletic fund. Most of the people that have those passes would donate that money anyway. It's not like somebody is going to pay $500 for a parking pass to UL

Never. They created this stupid “branding” to try and make them something that they aren’t. They showed up in Baton Rouge for their first baseball game after the “re-branding” with red “Beat State“ signs.

They deserve to be mocked at every turn.

ULL brings absolutely nothing to the table. They need to be playing the likes of Louisiana Tech, Northwestern State, Southeastern, Arkansas-Little Rock, Troy, Georgia Southern, etc.

Tulane, while a good school academically that's coming off a nice Cotton Bowl win, and has had a few good baseball teams approximately 20 years ago, has not and will not make a commitment to athletics (unlike BYU, Baylor, TCU, Cincinnati and so on).

UL can't ever get there because they can't just embrace who they are now. They try so hard to be something they aren't it literally turns fans away. I live in Lafayette and don't even go to the games anymore. They make you park outside the gates because those places are reserved for 'athletic foundation members' but half the parking lot right by the stadium is empty. So you gotta walk a mile to your seat to watch some Sun Belt football? Nah bro, hard pass. Athletic department lost something like 10 million this past year. Edit - just want to add that the stadium was barely even half full on gamedays even when Napier was there. Now? The attendance is next to last in the SUN BELT.

UL should let LSU bandwagon fans tell them who they are? Are we the only Louisiana team outside of LSU that has consecutive top 25 ranked football seasons or are we the shitty late 90’s/2000 era teams. Are we the school that ranks regularly in the top 20 in national attendance for baseball & softball or are we a school that hasn’t won a national championship in either sport. Are we a school with a great basketball history and the only school in the the state with 20+ Mens hoops wins this year or are we just a sun belt afterthought. Are we the Second Largest Public University in the state or are we not the “official”flagship of our University system like LSU is. Are we one of only three R1 research institutions in the state (UL/LSU/Tulane) or are we just an average University without a medical school.

I’ll let UL fans decide who we are and what our goals should be not a bunch of LSU fans that don’t support their own city. UL’s biggest problem is we don’t get the Lafayette look at me crowd because we are not LSU. If those people want to send their money to a school that doesn’t need it more power to them, but some of us support the college that represents and educates our communities.

With that said no UL should not be seeking any other conference right now. We have top notch athletics facilities outside of our football stadium. The focus needs to be on a better stadium for football. The Sun Belt is a solid conference to be in right now in case anyone hasn’t noticed. We have a great regional rival now in Southern Miss, (sell out at USM bball game last night). I would love to add LA Tech to the conference to make the SBC West equal to the rivalries in the SBC East. We are not in a financial situation to be a big12 member, conference stability and regional rivalries is much more important for UL’s situation. I wouldn’t have said this 5 years ago but the Sun Belt is sitting pretty for now, especially with the 12-team football playoff on the horizon.

Sorry for not being LSU!

It's the difference between punching up and punching down. You are pissed that they showed up with a sign, but at the same time have never done in any meaningful capacity what was on the sign. Mocking them for what exactly? Trying?

I agree. In terms of pecking order, it would be (1) Tulane, (2) Louisiana Tech and then (3) ULL.

First of all I am from Lafayette, born and raised. Not some bandwagon fan of either. Been a fan of both schools for the better part of 30 years, so as a UL fan I'll say that in football terms, no you havn't erased 30 years of terrible football teams with 3 yrs of decent sun belt football play. 2021 the team lost 1 game, but go look at the scores. A lot of those sun belt games were close. I know because I was at some of them.

I agree with you and I wish you guys were in the Sun Belt. G5 type programs need the hated rivals. It’s what gets fans excited.

Our biggest problem is we are only 40 miles west of LSU so we don’t get the support we should get in Lafayette and we have prior administrations that didn’t prioritize athletics and now those alumni from those years treat our athletics the same way.

“Nice” is the adjective you used?

It was freaking EPIC against a blue blood with their QB fresh off of winning the Heisman and Tulane (who has constantly been the butt of jokes about number of fans) had a MASSIVE crowd.

Also, you are going to talk about Tulane baseball from 16 years ago like it is the only other feather in the cap when Tulane men’s basketball has beat both Cincinnati and Memphis in the past six days?

Tulane is on the rise.

ULL’s PowerPoint for Big12 would have six slides on their New Orleans Bowl attendance from 2011 - 2014.

Northwestern State and Southeastern have 1/4 of out budget, and Little Rock was just literally kicked out of the Sun Belt to make way for the 4 new schools. What in the world are you talking about?

Are you serious? We were ranked in the Top 25 in football in both 2020-2021. In the last decade, our baseball team recently made it to 5 regionals, hosted two of them, been to two Super Regionals (hosted one as well), and was ranked #1 in the country during that time frame. Our softball team is nationally ranked every year. Our facilities are one of the best the G5 has to offer in the south.

I'd say that's a little more than a six slide power point about Nola Bowl attendance.

Then ULL hired Michael “ULL’s Chris Scelfo” Desormeaux after those two seasons - so they shouldn’t reference that as it shows they can’t sustain prosperity when it comes.

So we show that we can't sustain prosperity from everything I stated, yet Tulane can with their football team winning more than 7 games for the first time since 1998 and their first winning basketball season in 10 years? And speaking of which, our basketball team sits at 20-5 and has actually seen the postseason in the last decade. Which tournament has Tulane gone to during that time period?

If letters were a currency the addition of one letter or retraction of one letter depending on one's view would be the best way to amass more letters on any Louisiana based sports forum.

Maybe they should just enjoy being a G5 playoff contender in the new setup.

Getting into a new conference almost always means your school gets a check while you as a fan watch the losses roll in.

How many schools that have moved into or swapped to a different power conference in the past 25 years have been successful?

Utah, TCU, and…..?

Miami, Nebraska, WVU, Louisville, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Maryland, Rutgers, Arkansas all failures in their new leagues.
