Harveston Development - Bluebonnet

Does anyone know the exact plans for the Harveston Development on Bluebonnet/Nicholson? They are putting up a Charter School currently at the end of Bluebonnet. Is this suppose to become the next 'Town Center" type area for this part of town? Seems like it would boost home values in the Bluebonnet/Burbank/Nicholson/St. Gabriel area if so.

It is supposed to be modeled somewhat after Seaside in 30A. But something tells me the demographics in BR are a bit different than those in 30A. The fact that the first thing they are putting in (aside from the Preserve neighborhood) is a charter school seems to give you an idea of how successful it will be. I doubt anyone who lives in the area (Preserve, Lexington, UClub) sends their kids to a charter school. And I doubt anyone will despite their being one nearby. So the very first thing you will have is a neighborhood school...not serving anyone in the neighborhood.

There are hundreds of homes off Bluebonnet between Harveston and Burbank also.
There are hundreds of homes east of Nicholson between Gardere and Burbank.

Plenty of people send their kids to Basis which is next to Woman's Hospital. I know doctors who have their kids there

I certainly hope this little charter school does some great things. The curriculum looks awesome, honestly. It's a classical education, where young children are reading things like The Velveteen Rabbit.
There has to be an option for people in BR that don't necessarily have the incomes to support private schooling. The alternative shouldn't be moving or sending your kids to a dumpster fire.

Hey, I really want it to succeed! It would be great. But given the current state of BR/EBR and the bleak outlook right now I'll take a wait and see approach before getting excited. Perkins Rowe (though on a smaller scale)_ had similar optimism when it was being developed. It hasn't lived up to they hype.

I wonder if this area is in BR, St. George, or will stay unincorporated.
Definitely curious how they'll handle the back of the property being up against the Gardere neighborhoods. Though I think the south side of Gardere (towards Bluebonnet) is much more working class families than the GSRI side.

My kid went from St. Jude to gifted at Wildwood to Basis (Charter). Basis has been the best school.

Some people are willing to drive out of the way to put their kids in the best schools. Others look for decent to good schools that are closer. I think enough in that area will put their children in that charter school that it will end up being a solid school

That school has a contract with the hospital where 50% of the school's population can be children of employees of Woman's; it is likely why that school is the best performing charter school.
