Sure, but the person has to want to “tame” it.

As someone who has dealt with individuals with addictions, they don’t believe the addiction is a problem.

If they don’t want to stop, no amount of intervention will help.

These stimulants are horrible medications that are overused and abused.

Exactly. In my opinion skipping days, like weekends, to build up a supply to be able to take 4 or 5 a day during the week isn't a healthy solution. Another problem is I don't think he could simply get out of bed and mow his lawn on a Saturday morning if he didn't take one. That's another thing. When he's out and it's the weekend and he didn't have to work he's in bed until noon or so. Backaches, muscle pain, pretty much textbook withdrawal symptoms. It's a damn mess.

I don't understand how it affects some people. I have a friend that takes Vivance(sp) and it calms them down so that they can settle, focus and get things done. If they don't take it, they're a live wire all over the place, an unorganized mess. Weird.

If you want to get onto a really good topic, simply ask how humans survived and functioned prior to the invention of these stimulants.

If ADD/ADHD was such an issue to the extent we see now prior to the medications’ invention, humanity would neither have survived nor prospered.

Nothing would have been built or invented.

Society must have been at an absolute standstill.

For a while, I took a 25mg Adderall XR in the morning w/ a 150mg Wellbutrin XL, followed by 70mg Vyvanse in the afternoon. I'm off the Adderall now, but I do miss it.

The energy drinks alone is a red flag. 30x3 is going to affect your sleep. He’s not sleeping well so he’s pounding energy drinks and double dosing to make up for it. It’s a never ending cycle that will kill him eventually. If he can even cut back to 30x2, taking that last one before 3pm, he would probably sleep so much better and thus feel so much better. He wouldn’t need to pop pills to get out of bed and chug monsters to get thru the day.

There is a lot of truth in this. These meds really do affect sleep patterns.

While I completed understand your point - it’s important to point out that never before has society had so many constant targeted distractions.

It was possible for people to develop task-oriented processing when there was less daily bombardment.

It’s created a couple of generations of drug-dependent scatter brains.

Jesus Christ!

Scruffy has cut of a piece off a 20 mg methylphenidate that was less than 5 mg and taken that before and felt like his heart was going to beat out of his chest.

How did you survive?

90 30mg instant release (supposed to take 3 per day 1 at a time)

That is a lot of speed. (2) 20mgXR is more than enough to keep you up until 2:00 AM by the fifth day of this regime.
I do prefer being able to go to the grocery and not spend an hour wandering in a stupor to get a bag of charcoal and some dog food.

I object to how this board seems to trivialize cocaine use, but even I believe Adderall is far more dangerous and addictive than cocaine.

Humans survived because very few people were educated in a setting that we would consider normal by modern standards. Even compulsory high school education is a somewhat recent phenomenon.

Only the most intelligent created anything at all in terms of "science" (also relatively new). Everyone else was a baker, cobbler, butcher, carpenter, etc. None of these jobs required the ability to even read on more than an elementary level.

Now, everyone has to go to college lol. Many humans aren't designed for lengthy classroom/desk time. They like to move around.

I have two friends who work on the river in this stuff. They long ago had to quit weed and such for their river jobs, but both went to a doctor and faked ADD to get pills. They say this is super common for TWIC workers. This and suboxone. Two things you can be prescribed and take. Both are abused. Though I guess it's better than letting them smoke devils lettuce on days off.

Cliffs - people who get drug tested abuse Adderall because it's easily prescribed

I have an attention span issue and could probably use something like adderall to help me focus but I'm terrified of getting on that stuff just because of the known side effects and the fact that people who are on it can't seem to function without it.

Far more fun to tell others you are the victim and that you have a disability than to tackle your issues with self discipline and hard work.

Well, that's because the topic of being prescribed it when you don't have full blown ADHD hasn't come up. My podnuh survived a lot of life without meds, graduated from college, held successful jobs, all without any sort of ADHD med. He only got diagnosed at like age 40 and for the person that asked, yes, his script was for 90 30mg IR's from the very start.

I’m just glad that dangerous marijuana isn’t as easy to get as adderall. We’d be fricked if people were smoking weed instead of legal meth.

I always thought this too, but found out I was just doing things I had little interest in.

Stimulants use is a symptom of trying to modify people to fit the corporate lifestyle instead of working in a field that is more individually compatible.
