We were buying our groceries from Win-Dixie while they were offering 6-10% cash back on the Upside app. Now it appears Win-Dixie has stopped participating in Upside so we’re going back to doing a weekly Kroger order.

It sucks that Win-Dixie stopped doing Upside. Between them and getting paid to buy gas I was making like $50-$60 bucks a month. That’s free “model money” in my pocket.

We tend to use Lidl by us, but I don't make special trips to go there.
I find it's great when you are having people over to get the meats and cheeses, hummus etc but it's nothing I will drive twenty minutes for. If I won't be in the area and we need something for a party I just go to the regular grocery
I feel the same about Aldi.

Simple - I don't go. It sucks imo. I'm not a fan of having to grocery shop at multiple stores unless I make a Costco trip for bulk items.

The items were cheap, but also looked like generic brands. Turned around and walked out. Not sure what I was expecting, but didn’t like it one bit.

I stopped at the Aldi in Laplace a few weeks ago. I found it to be like a SaveALot in a smaller footprint. Fewer brands and selections than a SaveALot. They waste a ton of space in the middle for seasonal and small appliances for the Aldi Finds section.

Someone I know only stops there because they have a specific type of pepperoni cheese that they have. So unless it is something specific or something on sale, you are still better off hitting a full size grocery for your grocery needs.

Just remember to bring your bags or you will be purchasing them there.

Lastly, bring a quarter you will need it for a cart. When you bring the cart back, you will get your quarter back.

Thibodaux is getting one by the Civic Center right behind the Chick-Fil-A on Renzi Drive. It is in the Thibodaux commercial strip area near Canal Boulevard, but it is a little bit off the beaten path.

It will be interesting how that one in Thibodaux does in Rouses hometown.

I loved about 5 minutes from one in Memphis back before people were all crazy about Aldi. I never went inside, I thought it was a 7-11 or some shite.

So what's Aldi's like? Are the prices cheaper and is the quality there?

We live about 30 min away from two different Aldi stores. One of them is down the street from the Sams we go to a couple of times a month.

Honestly if I lived that far from them I would never go.

Grocery has to be REALLY cheap for me to drive that far. Otherwise I'm going to my local AG store or to the WalMart.

And I don't go to Sams anymore. Too busy, too many annoying people. So we just order online from them.

Use Aldi, Kroger, Sprouts, Fresh Market, Trader Joes..depends on what I'm getting. Sprouts is pretty much the best for produce, Aldi for certain items and German specialties, Kroger for general groceries, etc. No Costco or Sam's within a reasonable distance.

Depends on location really. Ones I've been to in Atlanta, Plano and outside of Memphis are far more upscale looking and feeling than others inside of Memphis and Birmingham. Shreveport is supposed to be getting a large one soon.

It's kinda strange. It's almost like walking into an overstock store for food. Where what is sold changes all the time, but the deals are good. But then they always have good cheap cheeses and wine.

That's my take anyway.

I like Aldi, they do have good prices, and a lot of their off-brand items are good quality, they just don't have millions of $ to spend on advertising so you likely haven't heard of them. My issue with Aldi is, there are always several people in the check-out line with full grocery carts, and only one or two cashiers, so it takes too long for my liking. As for the quality and prices of their items, I have no complaints.

We have one about 10 minutes from my house and we've used it once. Majority of our grocery shopping is done at H-E-B since their stores are much nicer than Kroger and we pick up a few items at Sam's Club once a week. If you use Sam's Club, set up scan-n-go through their app, makes for a much nicer and faster checkout experience.

Just walked out of the new one in Covington. I couldn’t have been less impressed. I won’t be back. Felt like I was in a Big Lots for food and a middle aisle of random shite. Might be good for some people but I hate stores like that. We should have gotten a Trader Joe’s.
