I’m being told it’s no plugs no limits. What can I expect? I’m not a huge bird hunter. This is a guided hunt so I am hoping to at least get something.

If it goes like most of the conservation hunts I've been on, you may not fire a shot...

I hope your hunt goes better than that.

watching birds land in the field next to you and then having to pick up 600 decoys.

All depends if the areas hunting are still holding birds. Years ago I would hunt geese late season (Thornwell area) with e-callers during the conservation hunts. Birds were very educated and not so cooperative. You're not gonna kill geese on the couch. I would go and enjoy the hunt hoping for optimal conditions.

It’s hunting, there’s no guarantees.

Conservation hunting is an extreme gamble, they’re either there or they aren’t.

Turnpike ... if you want one good day, you need to book 2-3. Its hunting and weather may not cooperate, birds may move or a hundred other things. No guarantees for a one day hunt

Who is it with? There aren't many big congregations in that area. Best conservation hunts are in NLA/SE Ark.

Hunted Kaplan on Saturday. We didn't see many geese during that hunt, but ducks were everywhere. There are some, but not enough worth going all in on a conservation hunt for me from what I saw last weekend. You might get lucky though, never know.

Glad to see the majority here know the real story on these hunts. They're extremely unreliable deals, the birds move. Best bets would be further north where there are more snows in general, SW La just doesn't have them like they used to.

People dont realize how smart snow geese are.

I hunted SW of Kaplan last Thursday and Friday. There were very few geese. There will probably be even less when the Conservation hunt rolls around.

Gotta go way up north to do it like TV. It just doesn’t happen down south anymore.

I've been on a dozen or so and we've done well a couple of times. granted none of the hunts were guided situations and at the beginning we didn't know what we were doing (and still don't I suppose). it's still hunting though and better than work. good luck!

Lay out some news paper on about 2 acres, get hid and prepare to blast.

Sorry guys I failed to mention this is a guided hunt I am going on. Does that help my chances?

It’s usually feast or famine in Louisiana

You may be on them the day you go or you may be part of the “should have been here yesterday” crowd

Sounds like any bird hunting. Extremely hit or miss. No in between
