Bengals Future

Cincy has enjoyed a few good years, but reality is around the corner. Burrow & Chase, playing on rookie contracts have given them great flexibility dealing with the roster & salary cap. Years of mediocrity got them to this point, but the inevitable downturn is only a few years away.
I hope JB & JC get a Super Bowl pretty soon because the Super Bowl Window is not career long.

Mike Brown will find a way to screw over their fanbase.

Your future is never bleak when you have a QB who looks like he’s going to be elite/Tier 1 for the next decade.
This is certainly their most cap advantageous window before Burrow/Chase get paid, but you work around the cap crunch down the road and can make it work - See the Bills and the Chiefs. They have the QB, he’s being paid, they make it work.
Burrow is in that tier and the Bengals will be with those guys for the foreseeable future, even when the cap situation gets trickier.

They’ll be good as long as burrow is there. Brady was good without star weapons

I agree, but the Bengals are currently Super Bowl caliber because of Joe of course, but also because they have multiple stud WRs, and a good defense. I'm not sure that the Bengals get past the Ravens without that defense.

It always depends on how they spend their money, but the reality is teams start getting in trouble when they build through FA. Obviously, not having top 10 picks every year makes the draft a little more difficult, but it can be managed.
Quick look shows they have Burrow & crew together for 2023 and are still $40+M under the cap. When looking at %age of snaps, the big FAs they need to address this offseason are Bates (98%), Bell (99%), Apple (88%), Pratt (70%) & Hurst (49%), and Perine (40%). So, they should be able to work the cap/contracts to get ahead of a few of the 2024 contracts.
Then there are a lot of decisions to be made in 2024; assuming they don't start this year, but they already have $140+M in space in 2024

no different than any other team in the league
you have to maximize free agency to find bargains and future drafts
look at seahawks when they had russell wilson on rookie deal
look at chiefs with mahomes and how they had to get rid of tyreek hill to make it work
look at saints when brees was on a more cap friendly deal and they maxed lesser known free agents and hit in draft
all teams go through it
pats made a living off draft with brady and got rid of players when they became too expensive

KC with Mahomes $450 mil and Kelce's contract seem to be doing just fine

You been listening to Brandon Beane pressers too much

Brady always left a lot of money on the table during contract negotiations. He never tried to reset the market. That was the biggest and most underrated reason why New England was so go for so long.
It'll be interesting to see if they can maintain a competitive, balanced roster if they extend both Burrow and Chase. That has severely hampered other teams who have paid top flight money for both a QB and a WR. Once they're both extended, unless one of them leaves money on the table, those two alone will cost the Bengals about $80M/year. Top heavy teams like that have to draft extremely well in order to stay at or near the top.

Since 2008 only the Patriots have multiple Super Bowl Championships. Please don't act like this shite is a major story
. That's the design of the NFL. The teams that stay at the top for multiple years are outliers.

Plus I believe burrow is the type of guy that would be willing to adjust his salary to help keeping the team to get players to keep the team competitive….

Kelce is a TE, not a WR. He's not nearly as expensive as Tyreek Hill would have been for them. Kelce is basically a WR on a TE salary so it works for them. He signed a 4/$57M contract prior to 2020. Chase will probably be closer 4/$120M.

Tell me in all of your extensive knowledge of the Bengals roster and their cap space, who do you think they will be losing they is irreplaceable?

I say as long as they have Burrow and Chase, they will make it all work. Going to have to draft on the O-Line well, but the foundation is very solid there

Peyton Manning did not and his teams were always contenders always in the playoffs, same with Rodgers. Brees wasn’t taking pay cuts and his last 4 years the Saints had the best record in the NFL. People are taking this you can’t win if you pay the QB too far, it becomes correlation vs causation. Cincinnati may win multiple Super Bowl, they win none but as long as Burrow is there they will be good and in contention

Do people not realize that a good QB will cover a lot of holes.
A great QB will be over even more.
There are a handful of teams that can win a Super Bowl and they all have one thing in common. A young and good QB.
All of these teams will face the same trials as the Bengals in regards to contracts and salary cap. They will all still compete because of the QB.

Yeah that won't be until 23 I think, Allen is set to see his salary go from like 15 to 40m or something huge. Diggs from 11 to 20.
They'll feel it soon

i mean isn't that kinda the ebb and flow of a lot of teams with young talented qbs?
Seahawks, Chiefs, Buffalo, Eagles, Bengals, all have had a little flurry of developing some talent, getting a QB that can win and then their window closes after cap comes in and those young athletes want more money after their rookie contracts run out.
