The players and coaches we need to improve the program, won't come here until there is some sort of finality to this investigation.

At this point, the actual penalties we end up with pale in comparison to the damange this delay is causing us.

The NCAA is basically giving our program a slow death penalty. This is setting us back years.

Our current coach and our current players are not the answer. But better ones won't come here until they know what they are getting themselves in to.

So until then, things won't improve.

you realize that there isn't a formal hearing right? The NCAA may never do anything. They dont have to make a formal and final verdict

The threat of sanctions:
- has had no effect on other schools
- didn't matter at all to LSU while Wade was coach
- is now absolutely insurmountable for McMahon

There's an outstanding Notice of Allegations. At some point that needs to be resolved. There's supposed to be a hearing "sometime this year"

Who else has an outstanding NOA to the extent we do?

Wade was fired the day the NOA came out

Would be absoloutely insurmoutnable for any coach.

So self impose now and get it over with. But there are no major incoming sanctions it’s just an excuse making narrative. Most likely we get recruiting restrictions for 2 or 3 years.

Exactly.

It is a weak excuse.

In fact, I thought the BEST thing McMahon did upon getting the job was his recruiting. He convinced 3 players with (other than Wilkinson) no real ties to LSU or Louisiana other than the prior staff to play for a new staff none of those guys were familiar with. He also scrambled to sign three 4-star recruits (two top 70 players). Given he arrived at LSU late in the recruiting cycle (as most new coaches do) to put together a roster that many who cover the sport nationally, not just overly optimistic LSU fans, though MIGHT have a shot of competing for a NCAA Tournament spot was pretty remarkable.

For the first 14 games LSU, while not looking great or dominant, still looked like a team keeping with that projection. Then the wheels came completely off. You had a team that beat every mid-major opponent they faced (not always a given...even with a weak schedule) and beat/almost beat the two major-conf opponents they faced (Wake Forest and Kansas St) suddenly become a team who was getting wiped by mid-tier SEC teams and quickly destroyed by top-tier SEC teams. All while your freshman class is giving you virtually nothing and your offense is struggling to generate 50 ppg. Not only is LSU not scoring. They are (relatively speaking) not even taking any damn shots (56 fga per game - 256 in the nation).

You mean if the NCAA doesn't care, and never acts, we will never have another good team?

That's why you don't prematurely fire WW. We would be contending for 2nd or 3rd place in the SEC right now and pissing off the basketball bluebloods. The PMAC would have been packed, Pat Forde and Dick V. would be red faced pissed off and Tiger fans would be having a blast.

But no. Scott had to puss out.

Bro no decision is ever going to be made. I see you’ve been following Jacque on Twitter. LSU got fricking played and Scott’s a pussy for firing Wade.

Well, for one, the reigning national champions received an NOA a few years ago for 5 Level 1 infractions. As far as I know, that is still sort of hanging around. The only difference is that they told the ncaa to frick off.

yall hate Moscona, but before this stretch of losses when LSU was riding high, he said they would likely lose the next 7-8 straight at least, and LSU fans would meltdown, but after that should be able to piece together enough wins to possibly make the NIT.

Everyone around LSU knows what a total and complete rebuild this was and how hard it would be because of the NOA. Its why McMahon got a decently long deal.

No way man! Woodward got the "wink, wink" from the NCAA and fired Wade to save football. Duh.

This is not the 1980’s. I see how insurmountable it was for Zona and KU.
Hell, Zona had an assistant GO TO JAIL.
I mean even THIS last class was top 20 and the transfers he brought were from a team that won 31 games but I get it all being insurmountable.

BTW - can we stop with these threads? Nobody saw this season as an NCAA tournament team and hell not likely NIT. All people cared about was being competitive and for these last 5 games they have not resembled anything close.

Dude the NCAA has been hovering for several years. Zona, Kansas, Louisville were barely punished. The only school to receive any significant punishment was Okie st and they COMPLIED with the ncaa. The NCAA excuse doesn’t hold water.
CMM is fine this year and won’t be judged on this cluster of a season. But. He needs to recruit better and hit the portal hard. He can make a significant jump if he brings on some talent. It is concerning that some players seemed to have regressed/not improved as the season has moved along. But w little patience is needed
