Whataburger and it really isn't close. The In-N-Out burger is decent but the fries are horrible. By far the worst fast food fries out there

Whataburger is good for a double cheese or patty melt 2 am drive-thru pickup for what it is. Other than that, I wouldn't seek it out outside of late night.

In-N-Out blows. Service is great but the fries feel like I'm eating styrofoam. The burgers are ok but nothing to write home about.
Whataburger is in a different tier of fast food. More of a Wendy's tier.
I'd clump 5 guys and in n out in the same tier.

I feel like it’s apples and oranges. The burgers are quite different, but I like both. I don’t think I’ve ever had plain fries at In-N-Out. I always do the animal style fries.

It ain't what it used to be but what is.
In&Out has novelty going for it in many markets. Whata is tired and a shadow of its former self. Still, the Whata in my podunk town has a line of cars waiting pretty much all day/night long.
