NFL needs to make this easier to officiate and give a clear standard for receivers. If you have control when your 2nd foot comes down in bounds, and the ball never hits the ground as you are falling or on the ground, it is a TD. That BS about "it moved" or he "didn't maintain complete control" whil falling makes the game too complex and slows down play. Plus, if you want more scoring this is one way to assist in that effort.

He bobbled the ball. What’s hard to understand?

The rule hasnt changed in regards to that play. When the ball is clearly moving in your hands, its not a catch

If these rules were laws they would be stricken from the books for being too vague and ambiguous.
They allow the league to keep a finger on the scale. It’s just like pro wrestling it’s sports entertainment not a real sport

I've always loved this... considering someone can dive into the endzone ball flying all over and it's TD.

In the middle of the field that is a catch- in the end zone u must hold it yards outside the line…sickening

Had it been Buffalo every one of you dipwads saying catch would be saying no catch. Homerism apparent.

But that is the way they want rules "vague" so they can control outcome of games.

he had control and survived the initial ground hit. ball came loose after the fact. frick these refs
Nah. The ball was moving. Bengals are still gonna win

How do people not understand the rules?
It was clearly an incomplete pass.

But it's much easier to control the game if the rule is somewhat vague and left to interpretation.
I can guarantee you that sometime in your life, if you watch enough football, that same play will be ruled a catch.

Does the 3rd foot down (which he had) not negate the bullshite surviving the ground rule?
I feel like the rule was intended for diving catches. Now if you go down voluntarily after 2 steps it’s analyzed

Only if the rule is changed. The ball was bobbled and he didn’t fully regain control until after he was out of the end zone.

To you does not = NFL rules

Thought so at first too - but he didn't ever gain total control of the ball until out of end zone.
Defender knocked the ball loose as he caught it and it juggled around as he was going out of bounds. No "football move" within the field of play.

Right after he hit the ground, there were no hands on the ball. Have to control to ground

That has never been the rule. If a receiver bobbled the bll and secured it after going out of bounds that was always an incompletion.
I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but your statement is just wrong.

Ah, bring back the good old days when there were no point spreads. Win or lose pro game punch cards were at every bar. You gave your card and money to the bartender. 20 college games were also listed on sheet cards on games each week. Today’s ‘spread’ has referee speculation spewed on almost every “review” keeping an AL or NY ‘former’ referee employed and paid unnecessarily. Another “We’ll be right back” for the Commercial Broadcast System aka CBS.
