Baldwin charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter

Prosecutors plan to charge Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the movie “Rust” in New Mexico in 2021, according to a person with knowledge of the investigation.
The film’s armorer overseeing weapons, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, is also expected to be charged with involuntary manslaughter in the incident, according to the person.
The film’s first assistant director, David Halls, has agreed to plead guilty to the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon, according to the person.
Santa Fe-area District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies plans to announce the charges Thursday morning, the person said, and the charges are expected to be filed by the end of the month.

Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger of the gun – once during a prime-time interview shortly following the deadly shooting and again on a podcast episode. The actor originally said he had pulled the hammer of the gun back as far as he could and released it, but did not pull the trigger.

“I wonder how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone.”

I still can't believe his defense is...
"Guns are so dangerous. They just go off randomly and kill people. There is no way I pulled the trigger, I can guarantee you, I was holding the gun."

Im torn on this one. Baldwin is undoubtedly a POS. However, he does have some plausible denyability in this particular case.
My question has always been, why were their live rounds on this set?

Hate to see it.

He's the guy who brought the gun to Alec apparently. Not the armorer.

Welp, I was wrong about that immediately after this happened

What kinda jail time will he get for negligence and taking a life? 1 year? 5 years?
Maybe the penalty of a second or third dui: 60 days?

Because they were using the gun for target practice.

No way. I don’t believe you.

That's why the armorer is going to be charged

The problem is he cast a hell of a lot of doubt on himself by lying.

All true.
That being said, maybe I’d have more sympathy if they backed off all their smugness and hypocrisy while they are surrounded by armed guards and spout off ignorant crap about guns.
I’m just spitballing here.

Well, that’s another breach of protocol. Nobody but the weapons master or the actor should ever be touching a gun on a set.

The film’s armorer overseeing weapons, Hannah Gutierrez Reed,
"Armorer" should be in quotes, as her only qualification appears to be that Daddy performed that function for the film industry. Whoever hired her and everybody on that set who knew their were live rounds and a functioning "prop" gun are morally responsible for this. Hopefully some of them are held legally responsible as well.

My guess is he'll be confined to house arrest, thousands of hours of community service and probation.
