I’m never going there.
A padnah who managed to summit it said there’s a bunch of bodies of unsuccessful climbers all along the route.
The bodies are landmarks.
One of the corpses still has red boots on and is nicknamed “He gots his shoes on Driskill Mountain.”

Last trek to top for me east the worst.
Llama died from altitude sickness, expedition captain lost 3 toes from frost bite and I had to stay at Motel 6 for a week until the nitrogen levels normalized.
Kissed sea level when all done.

The most dangerous place in Louisiana is below sea level.
Not sure why y’all talking about mountains

Cheers to you my friend!
Me and some of my buddies had to bail after the second night of climbing the mountain. We were camped in sight of the summit. Sitting around the fire planning the final trek to the magnificent peak. When all of a sudden one of our number was snatched from our group by an Abominable Sandman. He was a hideous beast! Cover with hair, ticks and pine sap. We fought the creature tooth and nail to no avail. Our companion was drug off in to the woods. We tried to follow but heard more of the creatures closing in on us. We hated to do it but we all took off running for our lives back down the mountain.
We never returned for our equipment.
Never again will I attempt the climb Mt. Driskill. The memory is too dark and troubling.

Dude, acclimate easy. You don't want to risk pulmonary embolism.
I had that last time I was there. Had to be airlifted out to Ruston.

I’m skiing Driskill Mountain next week.

It’s on my bucket list - want to hit all the 500’ers before I die.

All jokes aside, when would the various hunting seasons be over? Would prefer to walk up the hill without getting shot, but don’t want to do it in summer.

Went a couple weeks ago. No hunters around.

Might not have been the Abominable Sandman…could have been ol’ Clifton Clowers.
They say don’t go on Driskill Mountain’ if you’re looking for a wife, ‘Cause Clifton Clowers has a pretty young daughter, but he’s mighty handy with a gun and a knife.

Serious question: is climbing Driskill more dangerous than parking in New Orleans
Posted on 1/16/23 at 5:11 am to Jim Rockford
Fun fact, while Driskill Mountain is 539 feet above sea level, the Hancock Whitney Center (formerly One Shell Square) in New Orleans is 697 feet tall. Also edging out Driskill Mountain is Place St. Charles at 645 feet. So those two places would be the highest points in Louisiana that an individual can stand on, but security may let you in unless you work there or have business there with an office up there. In New Orleans you can go to an observation deck at the Four Seasons by the River. It is called Vue Orleans. It is partly an observation deck and interactive multimedia museum. The observation deck is open to see the city and river from up there. But you are only 400 feet up.
If you really wanted to go tall, several radio towers go over the 1000 foot mark, but you will need be a tower climber to access. Before Ida knocked her down, an FM radio tower in Vacherie stood near 2000 feet tall.
WAFB’s tower near Riverbend is 1,644 feet tall.

But I’ll wait until hunting season is over so I don’t get blown away by Big D and his Bubba firing into a moving bush.
Like rules and regulations such as hunting seasons matter to these baws?

I drive thru that area a few years ago trying to see the top, but the altitude even 5 miles away got to me, had to turn back.

Man some of y’all are lying. No way this many people on TD have climbed Driskill. Y’all realize how expensive that is and dangerous? Even for TD it’s expensive

We were there yesterday between 10 and 11 AM. It was our first trip.

There’s a few like that in some of the plains states, but they are all at much higher actual elevations.
