Same thing that happens when your roommate dies if you’re living in an LSU dormitory. Straight A’s on your report card to close at the semester.

private school demographic has been shrinking nationwide for 30 years and more so in NOLA metro area, no surprise.

Better find another school fast, some will give them a tuition break - some won't. Parents that have paid tuition in full are lawyering up fast - those paying monthly are finding out they may still owe.

I remember it also being a school where boys went to play sports once they realized they wouldn't be able to at a Catholic League school.

Sad Ridgewood Alum here. I'm sure Mr. Montgomery did everything he could to keep them open. They dropped football two years ago.

This was the case for everyone I know that went there. Lots of druggies.
Not sure why people pay for private schools in Metairie like Ridgewood, Ecole, Crescent City etc. Might as send them to Grace King or Bonnabel, at least there are gifted programs at the public options. ETA: should have included the new magnets that are even better options.

Is Ridgewood the school I’m thinking of that has the huge green space behind it that they play a lot of flag football games?

No, that is Ecole, where these Ridgewood kids are being shipped to.

Demographic trends in East Jefferson plus an improving public school situation (especially if you are smart enough to get into a magnet) definetly thins the herd for these private schools.

Schools like Ridgewood always had meh academics and facilities, but they could offer safety and teachers who seemed to care.

If a kid is smart / talented, I don't see any reason for a parent to send that kid to a school like Ridgewood vs Kenner Discovery or Haynes, unless the parent just wants a very small school for the child.

Back in the 90s they also had a pretty good baseball program. I knew a few guys that played there.

Nearly every school that offers monthly payments does it through a finance company that basically pays the school up front quarterly. That finance company likely already gave it's money to the school and they are gonna want their money. Closing mid year is beyond bizarre.

Don't these schools generally have a BOT? I know people that are members of their kids schools. I had discussions with one about their financial issues, though not extreme.

Point being, I don't really see how this can be a complete surprise to any parents with students there unless you are oblivious. That's usually why schools fail in the summer because there are known issues and everyone drops out, then they can't make enrollment.

Then you're probably going to screw up your credit. The parents who pay monthly most likely have a tuition loan through a bank or finance company. Bank pays the school in full up front and then the parent makes monthly payments with interest to the bank. When mine was in Catholic school, our school used Gulf Coast Bank for tuition loans.

Friend of mine teaches for Jefferson Parish. She says the vibe now is kind of 40% Rummel / 60% Guatemalan drag brunch. No doubt the people on charge are getting sexual favors from the students.

Very much so at least when I was following the sport in the early 90’s. I was at the state tournament and they were in the stands and I saw the coach grab one of his players and shake her around the neck with her sweatshirt. Very awkward, but he apparently had a horrible temper.

Did the catholic schools quit expelling people? Everyone I know who went to Ridgewood did so because they got kicked out of other places
