I predict he will never play again because he will write a motivational book titled “Did we win?” That and his touring motivational speech will make him millions. The end

It depends on what the under lying cause was.

I had a birth defect in my heart "Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome" that jacked up the electrical connection.

It didn't flare up until one day in my mid 30's, then after an ablation surgery the Dr's said I was good to go.

So, if he had something fixable like that maybe he could return

Chris Pronger had a similar thing happen to him in the 1998 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He played until 2011 and was one of the top players in the league.

Hockey players are different. And that’s all I got to say about that.

I realize soccer is different than football but Christian Eriksen, the Danish player that went into cardiac arrest on the field, has a defibrillator and continues to play at a high level.

Either way the guy has a job for life with either the NFL or the Bills. If I had to guess the owners will want goodell to find a place and a salary for him.

Often when someone has a fibrillation/cardiac arrest event without a clear cause they implant a pacer/defibrillator.He obviously can’t play football with that.

Pretty sure Christian Erickson is actually playing soccer with a defibrillator now. I know football is a much rougher sport in terms of tackling but cardio wise soccer likely more strenuous. Crazy what modern medicine can do.

He’s forever a legend.
Hoping he gets a nice injury settlement from the league and retires to enjoy life.

why would the league owe him a settlement?

ETA: unless there is a contractual insurance policy in place, it's not like the league is at fault for negligence or anything

Teddy Bruschi played after have a stroke. I know he had another stroke, but I can't remember if he played after that one. If he did it wasn't long.

NFL players are in incredible shape. You look at Teddy Bruschi and can't really tell he had a stroke. They are able to recover quicker than the average person. I am sure Damar Hamlin will want to play again. He is only 24, but he is dealing with his heart, that's a little different. Of course I am not a doctor, but I am sure in his mind he is going to play again.

It was pretty insane to see him pretty much die on the field. That shite really shows how quick something can happen and all of a sudden someone is dead. Luckily for him there was the right equipment that got to him in time, but to answer your question. I would say it wouldn't surprise me either way.

The league will compensate him somehow. They want him to walk away happy. Especially if he didn’t opt for some type of insurance. Outside policy or if the NFL has something they can buy.

They are already getting shite from all the broken older men with shite health insurance.

If you statistically can be more prone to Commotio cortis? No way he’s back. If you can’t prove that there is NO increased risk? He still can’t come back.

as a PR gesture they probably will but I see no legal obligation for them to do so

I have to take a physical every six months to keep my license and have for over 40 years, if I can't pass, the medical certificate isn't renewed and the job goes away if I can't get it reinstated

If something happens to you in you bi-plane while cropdusting T-Boy's soybeans, you MAY veer off and hit a home hurting innocents. Hamlin can only hurt himself.

J/K if you have a seizure 10 feet of the ground in a commercial airline you've killed hundreds.

I once took care of a Continental (then) pilot. Who had a seizure while driving. My younger meager brain was not understanding why he was so upset. "Damn man take some Tegretol (or pick a SZ pill) it gonna be OK." I only thought in my head. No dumbass my little pack of discharge papers I handed him was then end of his career. He was probably early 50's. So it probably did end. Hope the poor guy found a job with instruction in simulators or something.

in my line of work that means a minimum of 10 years without a medical license, 10 years of medical monitoring, psych testing, and tons of other hoops to jump through, 10 years without a seizure with no meds before we even discuss the lengthy procedure to get the medical reinstated, that's among the many reasons I have to smirk when I heard those idiots commenting on these brave young scholars that put their life on the line each week to play the game they love

My prediction is he never plays another snap and the NFL gives him a big check.

Just curious but why would the NFL give him a check? The NFL didn’t cause his issues.

PR reasons if nothing else. The NFL/Bills will take care of him one way or another.
