The truth about the SOTH vote the media doesn't like

The truth is this is exactly how this process should go. We for too long have had basically 2 votes. A dem vote and a Rep vote. The media wants us all to think they are all supposed to vote in a block. The reality is those 200+ Dems and 200+ Rep voting in a huge block represent vastly different voter bases. They should be digging in expressing their opinions and I'm sure they are. But to say a group of them is wrong for digging in and using the power of their vote for leverage is bad and the party is split is just a lie. The party is healthy if it does that. This country got along much better when both parties had segments of their party that weren't in lock step. Joe Manchin and Kristen Sinema are healthy for the democrat party. The old "Blue Dog" Democrats are deeply missed. I haven't always agreed with some of the groups that split off and dig in on both sides but it creates healthy debate, slows down a process that needs more dialogue and forces concessions. It keeps the extremes on both sides from running the show. For too long the last 20 years this country has been run by about about 5-10 people demanding everyone agree with them.

One of the concerns with dragging it out though was the national security implications. When you’re not sworn in as a member of Congress, you don’t have access to security briefings.

A benefit of not rubber stamping these SOTH nominees is getting some house rules in place that may help in holding these D.C. Cesspool lawmakers to account.

I get it but it still doesn't mean the debate is wrong. The party with the concessions McCarthy had to make is much more representative of the country than if they all got in lock step. The system is designed to put more pressure as time passes. That's all healthy.

Please explain how this affects national security. No funding was at risk since the previous Congress passed the Omnibus bill. Congresscritters not being briefed has what impact on the daily operations of our government agencies?
