He’s under contract for 2 more years after this one, the third year being a 20 million dollar player option. We could probably offer him in the neighborhood of 4/100 at that point and have him under contract long term.
Swap Jonas for a role playing big in the Javele McGee role, and we could have multiple championships.
Currently with the offensive black hole we have in the starting lineup, we will not go far in the playoffs imo. We need to add more scoring somehow.

Grant or Wiggins
Here is a pretty good article speaking exactly to what you say. Does OG want to go the Grant route, or Wiggins? I can’t answer that. And all of the talk is really rumors and outside chatter. It’s something we would need to hear from him and his people direct.
I personally feel there is a big difference between sharing the ball with Van Vleet, Siakim and a rookie last year in Barnes, vs playing behind Zion, BI and CJ offensively. And winning of course. I think OG would be our Bridges and would get massive praise while doing it on what would IMO be a more true championship contender. But it’s a risk on a lot of levels, no question.

I don't disagree with the talent or the impact that he can make on this team. I just don't see a trade where we put up our entire warechest without assurance that he's willing to be here for the next 5 years knowing he could probably be on a team that will give him bigger money and a bigger role. He's never had that opportunity and he could be in mindset of wanting to be the guy.

We would have a leg up on this and know next season if he would be willing to stay long term, if you can’t come to a contract extension agreement then we would have the chance to trade him before the deadline and recoup assets or get another player on a longer deal.

I'd be all over your trade proposal, but it's not my money. Anunoby's next contract will be a lot closer to 4/135 than 4/100. He's playing like prime Andre Igoudala. He's a top 5 defender, very good rebounder, and has gone from a bad offensive player to a very good offensive player. He's basically Jimmy Butler without the headaches.

If he gets in that range then he’s pretty much max territory. I don’t think he would want to go to a bad team to get that money.
We don’t know yet what the cap spike will be but by then 4/135 could be the same as 4/100 right now

I'm not saying OG isn't better than Trey, i just think giving up Herb, a lottery pick and another 1st seems like a lot for someone you only have control over for 1 more year. OG isn't going to take Herb's spot and be able to be the same guy he's been the last 3 years in Toronto. He's not scoring 18 a game. He'd probably be around 12.
My point is do you want to pay that role player $18M/yr, and maybe more if we extend him
Devonte is making 12. Yes i would pay og 18.

CJ says there’s Raptors players that’s not happy and someone is getting moved, but due to tampering he can’t say who.

I wonder if that means we are involved.

That’s what I’m thinking. Wording it like that makes it seem like the players are trying to recruit someone
Posted on 1/15/23 at 9:06 pm to Soggymoss
So if that’s the case, Billy, Graham, and who else? We know both of those guys want more minutes. Devonte has been a pro about it, but there have been low key comments made by other players and coaches.
Jax, but if we are moving from Billy and we aren’t getting a big, we aren’t moving Jax too. Kira? Is it time?

Don’t forget there are guys like Tristan Thompson still unsigned if we needed an emergency 3rd big. And the Pels are finally good enough to land that kind of player waiting for a playoff team to come calling.

It would depend who it’s for.
One name I know I’ve heard is not happy is Thad Young. Gary Trent Jr is another one, but that’s one we don’t know if it’s just because of Klutch and he’s trying to get forced to LA.
My hope is OG and we are in for him

Fred van vleet is supposedly not happy

And you want to this by trading Jonas for a Javale McGee type?

Raptors fan think it could be either VanVleet and/or Trent JR. It's well known by their fanbase that VanVleet was asked to play offball this year and he doesn't like the role. And Trent Jr is close to CJ and may not be too happy about coming off the bench.

With a healthy BI, he’s coming off of the bench here too. That would be one hell of a damn bench though, oh lawd!
