I'd think it's real as that's their starting point. Doesn't mean they'll end up with that, but they start there in hopes that 1 of the 10 teams is willing to give up that or somewhere near that.

Hartenstein would be a definite upgrade over Jax IMO.
Probably, but is Hayes a top 8-10 player on the Pels? Hartenstein would play in certain matchups, but would not have a bigger role that say Nance. I would not give up much for him and not sure how it would affect the chemistry of the team.

JV was hit or miss against Phoenix in the playoffs. Without JV the rebounding goes to hell. It feels like we need an additional rebounding big that’s good enough to not get run off the floor like Billy likely would.

Bogdanvich to Knicks

Hayes/Kira and Fournier to the Pistons. Knicks give Detroit their protected future 1st back (probably wouldn't have been conveyed until 26 or 27), and the 23 Dallas 1st.

Pels get Nerlens Noel and Detroit 23 2nd, and a future 2nd.

I like this. Gives us our rim protector for cheap and still leaves us DG and GT contracts plus picks to potentially get a shooter.

I’m firmly in the “no trade” camp, but I don’t hate this one…

To be clear, consensus is that trading Jaxon Hayes and Kira Lewis out for Noel makes us better on the basketball court? I think we are losing sight of the big picture here with all this trade hoopla.

considering neither of them play unless we have at least 3 people injured, yeah it makes us better.
Noel is exactly who we want as that 4th big after Zion/JV/Nance. And he'd be ok with getting some DNP's and playing when the matchups benefit him. That's the perfect guy for that role, a vet who's ok with spot minutes and in certain matchups be a pivotal player for us.

We aren't resigning Jaxson, and if we do, it will be just like the Hart contract, or Mo Bamba contract where we don't want him, and he really doens't want to be here, but no one wanted to give him that $10M/yr contract, so we just resign him to use in a trade.
If we could get a good 2nd like from Detroit for Jax/Kira, then you do that. Time to move on from them. They make $11M and do nothing for us.

Noel can be the rim protecting, rebounding 3rd big we needed Jaxson to become. He's a rental, but he hates Klutch as much as we do and he's not very business savvy, so maybe you can keep him for cheap.

It's not a great deal, but it seems like a fair deal considering Detroit's 2nd is likely in the top 5 of the 2nd round. And it does make the Pels better on the basketball court today because Noel fits the team's needs better than Jaxson.

I don't like cashing out Kira early, I also wonder about chemistry issues since Noel seems kind of dumb off the court they way he's managed his career, but I can't look at this trade and say it's bad value for all of the parts involved. If you think it's bad value I think you are holding out hope that either will become full time starters at some point. I just think that's extremely unlikely.

Jaxon started for us in the playoffs, and is contributing right now. He scored 8 points in our very last game. Nerlens Noel has scored 8 points ONCE in the last TWO seasons. He’s a complete black hole on offense. He could never play with Zion, he’s actually an undersized center with no versatility. And he makes up for it with an extensive injury history. He’s 28 going on 35. And IF we want to keep him on our roster as maybe our third best center if not fourth, he would count $10 million next season.

Jaxon and Kira are young good players. Just because we have a deep roster doesn’t mean Kira isn’t a quality backup NBA pg. You would be insane to trade them for Noel. And that Detroit second is certainly not nothing, but I’m just not sure what type of roster space we have for second rounders.

I’m not sure why they need to become full time starters to say the two of them are more valuable than Noel

I think its a very fair trade for all.

Knicks get off Fournier (who's been hurt and also terrible when he does play) and add Bogdonvich by just giving up a late 1st this year, and some future first that they might have never even gotten to use and only Detroit would be interested in b/c its their own pick. That pick Detroit gave to NYK is unlikely to be conveyed. If it will be, it wouldn't happen until 2027 when it's only top 10 protected. But it also makes things hairy when trying to include multiple 1sts in a big trade, if they were to make a big trade in the near future.

Detroit gets what they want in a 1st and a young player, and then get another young player and their own future 1st back. I doubt they care about Fourniers contract. If anything they probably like it b/c they can use it in 2 years as an expiring in a trade. They don't care about winning right now.

I would like to try to get that early 2nd round pick. It can help you move up a spot or 3 if the Lakers pick ends up around 15, or you just keep the pick and have two rookies
