China taste is the only Chinese take-out in BR that I will eat. Nothing special, but not disappointing either.

Cheng's on One Calais. Ma Po Tofu and Mongolian Beef were excellent a couple of weeks ago, they also have lunch specials.

Chengs #1 or China Bear #2 in the Rouses shopping center at Bluebonnet... better than China Taste imo.

Yeah, I hated China Taste the one time I got it. I’m a Nine Dragon on Burbank gal. Got them to cater a party last year and everyone asked where the food was from. Had two friends use them for parties afterwards because of it.

I used to really like China One on Bluebonnet and Airline, but it’s been a long time.

I don't let convenience dictate over quality & mileage.

China Taste is meh, and I've done most of their menu, nice family and kids, but the King's Wok family does takee outtee a lil better.

China Bear does great smoked duck eggrolls. Her husband hunts, and they were pretty good when off Millerville thirty years ago.

Cheng's is ok, but not nearly as good as Omi circa mid 2000s..nor worthy it's price.

Lee's Fusion, Asian Seafood House, PF Chang's are my three for BR Chinese dine-in & takeout. Sometimes still a lil Oriental Pearl for buffet.

Chow Yum Phat for anything, Dang Cafe for Pho, Thai Kitchen, Thai Pepper, Thai Chili, BAO, Umami, Sushi Yama, Sushi Masa, Rock & Sake, also in the asian fare rotation.

Still greatly miss MK Wong era Chinese Inn on Fla Blvd and later Airline. BR's best Chinese dining by a chef & later as owner playing Poker with his chums in the private dining room all day..by a country mile.

BR though recently improving, still a relatively mediocre Chinese dining scene for a 650K greater metro.

Lee's Fusion out past Denham Springs HS..it's worth the ride!

King's Wok on Jefferson behind CC's is really good. They only do take out.

I ordered it twice in the last month or so, and it was good both times.

Tried Cheng's for take out 2 months ago and it was so meh. The General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken was the same dish, soggy fried chicken covered with sweet and sour sauce. The only difference was the GT had those little red peppers sprinkled on top and the Sesame chicken had sesame seeds sprinkled on top.

I guess I was expecting Omi level quality. Panda express would have been better than Cheng's.

I don't know how it is in Baton Rouge, but around here (Atlanta burbs) it basically all tastes the same, just a big pile of rice or noodles covered in meh.

We've basically switched to Thai places for anything Asian. Panda Express is better than most Chinese places these days.

There are places on Buford Highway that are supposedly of much better quality, but for nearby take-out, it's all meh.

There was a restaurant on Boardwalk by Sherwood and N. Harrell’s Ferry about late 90’s to mid 2000’s that was very good.

Bamboo House or Bamboo Garden, maybe?

Correct, it like with MK Wong's baby brother Kit Wong's Mandarin by Mall City, were the two places with a solid Mongolian stir fry station.

Kit and his sons run a better sushi joint(Ichiban) than did their native Chinese fare..

Granted, it was Americanized buffet fare, and probably not how they did their own home cooking.

Bamboo House was the first place I ever had crab rangoons, and they were spectacular.

I think Bamboo House was on Essen and Bamboo Garden was on Boardwalk, not sure though since it’s been so many years.

I think that it was the opposite in names?

Amy Baw owned Bamboo Garden on Essen, and also the Koto's buffet on College Drive that Derek Chang bought and turned into Koto Sushi.

Amy Baw had the best creamy white Ginger Salad Dressing ever.
