Gaetz, Boebert and some others went to the mic to discuss this McCarthy stuff. Here are some notes from Gaetz (trying to paraphrase him here):
- If you want to drain the swamp, you cannot put the biggest alligator in charge, "I'm a Florida man, I know these things."
- We sought a vote on term limits, he refused.
- We wanted a balanced budget on the floor, he refused.
- We wanted a border plan on the floor, he refused.
- We struggle with trust of McCarthy. He shifts like the sands. His own mentor said 'the lies always change.'
- McCarthy fails time and again.
- For months we've been asking McCarthy for a 'battle plan' and got a whole lot of nothing from him. No assurances for those in the military, farm bill, etc.
- We prefer a unity of purpose, but we will not allow the uni-party to continue to run this town.
- There is no difference between Pelosi and McCarthy, both from California.
- McCarthy acknowledges that DC is broken, and he's part of the problem.
- We reached out to McCarthy and he gave us nothing and he thought that if he went on Fox and other networks that he could brow-beat us into submission.
- Everything I've heard has hardened my resolve in the fact that this town needs change and if it's a few of us that must stand in the breach to force it to happen, then so be it.

I'll keep saying it - stop voting for incumbents. There is no way that more than 10% of Congress should be re-elected in 2024.

If only he would direct his skills towards being an effective member of Congress instead of producing sound bites for Twitter.

Dude is quite in touch with his supporters, unfortunately.

There's one of his constituents right above your reply disagreeing with you.

Why unfortunate?

His job is to represent them, not sell them out.

Takes a lot of balls, something lacking in the leaders, it won’t endear him to the leadership, yet he takes a stand

It takes balls to stand up and make a speech? In a seat you have zero chance in losing as long as you remain a registered Republican?

It may be shrewd opportunism depending on how it turns out, but I have no idea how it requires balls to make a speech and say Jim Jordan's name.

To speak out against who will likely be his boss. They’re all power grabbers and suck ups. Unless you think Gaetz is in on the show, in which case you’d be correct, I disagree, I think he is actually trying to invoke change

Oh no! He'll have a shittier chair in committee hearings and get invtited to different after-hours fundraisers. The absolute horror of those consequences.

He wants attention for himself. McCarthy sucks, but so does Gaetz. Just in a different way. McCarthy is a loser RINO. Gaetz is the Congressional equivalent of a mega-church pastor. All grift, zero substance.

Kind of hard to have substance when there is the establishment in the way.

A real man doesn't lick arse.

Well, I mean he is a politician, that’s what they do. I’m no politician sycophant. Whether he is sincere or or pushing his own brand, idk, but how else do you get pushback? It has to start somewhere. He layed this out on podcast several weeks ago, and he seems to be standing by what he said.

If you understood this process, it would help.

Melanie Zanona
@MZanona
And GAETZ, who initially voted for Biggs for speaker, now nominates JORDAN.

Confirms what @AnnieGrayerCNN
@mkraju
& me first reported about the McCarthy opposition coalescing around Jordan on the 2nd ballot.

Which means he knows a completely and utterly fricked up situation when he sees one. That’s his constituency.
