Gaetz does it again on the House floor, to McCarthy's face

Gaetz goes in on him again, and formally nominates Jim Jordan, where support is building. Said McCarthy has been selling himself for years to get to this point and desperately wants to be Speaker, implying there ought to be suspicion on such motivations.

Sponsor meaningful or serious legislation of any kind. Not spend his time shite posting on Twitter.

I have no doubt that McCarthy desperately needs to be Speaker. He's probably swung some deals with some pretty nasty people (contingent upon winning the chair), and if he's not in a position to live up to them, he's in big trouble.

There is something going on that we don't understand because both Jim Jordan and MTG are going along with McCarthy. Definitely something that is not easy understand. Jordan and MTG are not push overs, not even close.

I'll lay it out for you. Jim Jordan doesn't have the votes either, and he knows that first and foremost.

It takes balls to stand up and make a speech? In a seat you have zero chance in losing as long as you remain a registered Republican?

No dipshit, he’s standing up against just going along with status quo in DC because of his convictions. The press conference is a breakdown of what those convictions are. It’s been 100 years since this event has happened. I applaud him for what he’s doing. If he is out of touch, he will get primaried and voted out next cycle.

By making a speech, yes. Unless you are suggesting that Gaetz will suddenly become a proactive and productive member of Congress after this shite show?

No he won't. His seat is safe, which is the only reason he feels empowered to do all of this anyway. Its the opposite of courage.

Is there something wholly unique about his district that they would be one of the tiny minority happy to see their representative take this type of stand against the current republican leadership?

No, by voting no to McCarthy. The speech is an explanation of his vote.

Some of these are huge.

Has McCarthy ever provided an explanation on why?

Seems odd to me. I’m not defending McCarthy, but I wonder if there’s a legit reason he couldn’t bring those forward.

I’m in Andy Ogles district and I overwhelmingly support his vote

McCarthy cannot tell people why...because it will out him as another flipper like that idiot from WV Manchin, who just wants to be in the press.

The SOTH needs to be a younger member who can shake it up and piss people off. Not Gaetz, but someone who is young and willing to take a chance.

Gaetz needs to stay away from CPAC, any Whip or Speakership positions.

Not unique to his district at all. Check out how many other safe, R+15 or more districts are represented by Gaetz's crew.

Right. It's still a pretty small minority. Are you contending the rest of the districts in the nation like the direction of the current republican leadership and have no desire to shake things up - and that those with Gaetz are the only ones who could safely do so? All of Louisiana for example?

No. Not even sure how its possible to draw that conclusion from my post.

I am contending that nothing is courageous about grandstanding whenever you are in a safe district.

These things are common sense measures that have zero chance of getting past the Senate or Biden's desk.

McCarthy doesn't want to put the GOPe on the record for any of it. Politics, pure and simple.
