I need to take some pictures of one of the issues I'm having. Tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, beans, and zucchini are all doing great. However my squash not so much. I have three tromboncino vines. Two of them are staying small but look great. One is about 4 feet tall now and has turned yellow - both leaf and vine. All of the female fruit sprouts shriveled and died at about an inch long - not related to pollination. I had one get pollinated a few weeks ago, and grew to about 6 inches long, then died.

My three zephyr plants are doing ok, but the roots are very loose in the soil. Never had that happen before. They have been getting a healthy serving of P and K.

I do have a lot of low growing weeds in that bed since I didn't have time to spread mulch. I am also dealing with a massive cucumber beetle population. I can't get a cantaloupe flower open long enough to be pollinated before they devour it.

Not sure if the cucumber beetles infected my squash plants with something, but It doesn't look to be a wilt of any kind. I've been modest with watering and am showing no signs of under watering. I fertilized with garden tone every few weeks like normal for the last couple months. With a light root drench of miracle grow once per month since March.

This happened all of a sudden after the third root drench 1.5 weeks ago.

I'll try to snap some pictures this afternoon. I'm stumped on this one since my zucchini and everything else in my garden is looking great.

Also, this is my first year growing Amelia tomatoes and... bravo... solid growth, impressive fruit set, and they taste pretty darn good too. I do believe these will be a regular going forward since they've been so easy.

Nice. I caught my springer taking blackberries off my plant this year. I figure if she can reach them she can have them.

I took two weeks off from spraying neem and h202 and I found 6 tomato hornworms on my plants yesterday. Those bastards can eat some leaves before you notice. Chopped them up with some scissors.

By June 1st I figure my tomatoes are done setting fruit. I bought some Purple Hull Peas and Alabama Red Orka to try through the summer once I pull the Tomatoes. If anyone has any tips on growing those.

Or recipes for the peas.

She probably smells the gases that ripe fruit emit. That is absolutely hilarious.

Ok it's been a few days and it the leaves are green again and the color is coming back in the stalk. Maybe I burned it

I never had a problem with vine borers and I've spoken with many long time farms and gardeners in my area and neither have they, so I'd say "We don't have that problem round here". Knock on wood....

Is it too late to plant onions?

Really want a tomato, cucumber, and onion salad with oil and vinegar but I didn't plant any onion.

The way things look, I might not get any tomato's or cucumbers either though My stuff looks terrible.

I liked the few shishito/corbaci/Jimmy nardello peppers I've picked so much that I just planted the seeds for 3 more.

Do not plant onions now. Early Oct you can start the seed. Transplant in Dec/Jan. Pick in May/June.

Purple Hull Peas and Alabama Red Orka

For the peas choose top pick or ms pink eye, use an innoculant, and don't crowd them.

Okra grows like a weed but keep the ants off them.

Digging ours up next weekend. I did spot check some to give to my parents. Found this purple hand grenade potato. I need to get the onions all cured so these potatoes can go on the rack to dry.

Lost one side of a Hubbard squash to SVB. It’s still kicking though! We’re already at giving away squash stage. Tomatoes are struggling this year.

I let ours go right at 90 days. Yield was less than expected. Not sure what happened outside of a leaf blight from that stretch of heavy rain.

I'll get the rows back in shape for okra seed.
