You should be able to manage with something smaller.

He should Buy this kia Carnival - probably get shite on by folks here but it's a good looking vehicle and will have all the room you'll need to lug around those 3 kids , cost about half as much as a new loaded Tahoe .

3 kids?? A minivan is the way to go. Anyone saying otherwise hasn't owned one. Not to mention they are considerably cheaper with more family utility.

Full disclosure, I have 3 kids and a minivan...

Boi. I done said I have a Chevy traverse as a work vehicle. That’s the same thing as her Terrain. Between the amount of work things I have to bring to cases/hospitals+my kids and their car seats and practices… it is NOT big enough. I’m sure you’d like to talk me into it but I already have one and it doesn’t suite my family’s needs at this time in our lives.

I currently tolerate it because it’s free.

Also. I know minivans would be most practical but I just can’t. My best friend has been trying to talk me into joining the Odyssey gang for a while now. Nope.

I’ve had both sizes as my husband had a Yukon XL. The Yukon XL was the right size for the ages/activities of my kids+my work crap.

I know they have a stigma for being lame but you really should be looking at the mini fans. An AWD Pacifica Limited would probably be perfect for you b/c of the stow and go seats.

Seriously, go check them out. They are so much nicer than they used to be and the Carnival and Pacifica do a good job of looking like SUVs. If you really can't handle something w/sliding doors you should try the Ford Transit Connect which has normal doors. The Honda is a good van too but IMO it's by far the most boring of the choices. The Sienna is a regular hybrid so it gets the best gas mileage. Not personally fan of the way Toyota's look these days but that may not be the case for you.

Chrysler Pacifica

Kia Carnival

Ford Transit Connect Passenger Wagon

Honda Odyssey

Toyota Sienna

This is a fact. If you can’t or don’t get it, it’s only to keep up with the Jones’s. Which I’m not judging because, I won’t lie, a small part of me was in permanent cringe mode while I drove it even though it was the best family vehicle we ever had while the kids were small.

Looked at a Toyota Tundra yesterday. $65,000.

How much do you think a used one should cost?

My tacoma was worth $38k 2 months ago, $34k now..... the bottom fell out

New 2022 Tacoma SR5s go for around $38,000-$40,000. Was just at the dealership looking at them.

Top of the line TRDs $55,000.

I freaking love my Carnival and I don't even have kids. I took the middle seats out and popped the back seats down flat and made mine a 2 seater, lol. Can carry full size sheetrock or haul leftover granite and doors from a house remodel. I had a bad habit of going through cars but this one finally checks all of my boxes. 10 year warranty and it's rated to tow 3500 lbs. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I've only seen about 20 other Carnivals in the wild in the last 18 months since I got it, and I can't figure out why more people aren't buying them.

Damn.

You could have gotten a new truck for less than that last year.

There is no way he could have gotten a new Tahoe for less than 40K last year

Vehicle prices are still crazy, particularly trucks and SUVs.

I don't know how OPs vehicle declined that much. My 6 year old truck is still worth 25k according to Carfax and I didn't even pay 40k for it.

my guess is, he thought the market yould continue inflating.

Bought at 40k, hoping to turn a profit on resale.

New car manufacturing stabilized, causing the used car market to return closer to mean.

Now he is going to take a bath on resale.

Yeah my work van was worth more than I paid last year. I was going to trade it in but didn't. It's dropped $10k since last spring.

It was tempting to trade my truck in when they were offering more than I paid for it, but I ultimately decided I like not having a vehicle note more than having a new truck.

The Tundra I looked at was the fully loaded with the hybrid engine.

Welcome to the new world. Prices on everything is astronomically high.
