Metroid Prime - GameCube doesn't get enough credit. This game was great.
Oh that's a great one. I'd definitely love to relieve that now, especially with the advancement of technology. That feeling of isolation while exploring combined with an amazing soundtrack was so damn good.

Super Mario Bros. 3
Metroid
Dragon Warrior
Super Metroid
Final Fantasy 1//2/3/4//5/6/7/9
Secret of Mana/Evermore
Chrono Trigger
Lufia 2
Earthbound
TLOZ: A Link to the Past
Shining Force 1/2/3
Final Fantasy Tactics
Breath of Fire 2/3
Silent Hill 1/2/3
Vagrant Story
Xenogears
Way too many to name really. Started on Atari/NES when I was 3. Getting the SNES as a kid was a very memorable experience. I still go back and play games from that era every so often, and still own quite a library of games across numerous platforms. Those are some off the top of my head that I have very fond memories of from my childhood. This doesn't include more recent games (PS2 and forward) such as FF10/12, Nier Automata, Skyrim, WoW etc etc.

That's actually a good one that I forgot about.

Mass Effect 1 and 2
The expansiveness and impact of choices in ME1 keeps me returning to it. First game I played where I legitimately felt like it was a “realistic” space adventure.
The characters and story of ME2 are exceptional beyond belief and having everyone survive in my first play through was a great feeling.

The more I think about it, the more that one feels like it should be a top 3. Wish I could play it again. Been a long enough time that I don't remember any of it.

sorry for the bump, but the favorite games from every console made me think about how amazing it would be to go back and play the OG pokemon Red/Blue games with a clean memory bank. Imagine discovering that world again all for the very first time. SO many hours put into those games over the last 25 years..

yesss. this game was fantastic. the first one was much better than the second IMO Sitting in my living room and legitimately being nervous going on deep dives without knowing if a leviathon was about to come out of nowhere and wreck my shite
Lol, exactly! There are a few great moments in that game. When I found the ghost tree for the first time I was impressed.

System Shock 2
F.E.A.R.
F.E.A.R. 2
Outlast
Scary games get me more involved than any others. A well-done horror game is an experience you can't get anywhere else.

Outer Wilds
According to Steam, I played it for exactly 23 minutes. It just didn't grab me. And yes, even though I know the basic conceit of the game. I've been meaning to get back to it, but it looks like I haven't touched it since 2020. Maybe one day

Mass Effect (1 2 and 3)
Bioshock
Left 4 Dead (both of them, but 1 is my favorite)
Fallout 3
Skyrim
Battlefield Bad Company multiplayer/Battlefield 3 (the one where you jumped off the damn cliff to another level)
I think the 360/ps3 era was a "golden age" and we've been in decline since. All we get now are sequels/franchises/remasters for the most part.
Developers don't take risks anymore.
Edit: forgot I already replied to this thread. LOL. Sorry.
