The best ability you can have is availability. Show up. Every day. Ask to be put with a top electrician and ask him questions throughout the day to learn why things are done the way they are done. Wear the right gloves for the task you're doing (ask your electrician) and protect your eyes and ears. The first time you don't tie off could be the last time you need it.

Make sure that everyone knows exactly about you and your last job.

Don’t be afraid to repeat yourself to them about it.

They need to (and want to) know.

If you don't know, how are you going to be an electrician? I am glad you didn't decide to go to work as a neurosurgeon.

Most likely helping run conduit , pull wire , run cable tray . Best advice is don’t expect for anyone to teach you just watch and ask as many questions as you can .

Well the good news is that since it's in a plant, you'll be working about 75% slower than any normal electrician in the real world. But you'll be safer because the safety man will make sure you don't step higher than 2 ft on a ladder without being tied off, bungeed up, and wrapped in bubble wrap.

Also you'll be rained out 3 times a week.
