Well tigerland, oh tigerland,
It once was pretty great,
Get stinking drunk and stumble home,
Safe though the hour’s late,
But now it’s filled with theft and crime,
All thanks to section 8,
So don’t you hurry, fireman,
Let’s watch it burn and wait.

If I only trusted the source I might believe that’s real. My guess is that’s not by Nicholson.

The flame usually gets bigger during the holidays. Years ago someone told me the reason why. I think it has to do with there not being as many people working because of the holidays and for whatever reason they burn off more waste.

It’s disturbing to see how many people are amused by the fact that many poor people are now homeless and loss all of their possessions. Sure there are probably degenerates living there but some people are just trying to live in a very tough world. They don’t deserve this and it’s not entertainment for me.

Creation by destruction. Sometimes the forest has to burn away All the dead wood to allow something better to thrive. Clearing the area out is the only way to save it from the greater rot that destroyed it.

People aren’t celebrating poor renters losing their stuff. But how many times did we hear during the mostly peaceful riots “they have insurance”?

None of us caused the fire. But let’s not pretend that area is anything but a violent craphole. It’s a shame, I had friends that lived there at various times in the past.

Had a young friend looking for an apartment recently and mentioned those apartments. I told him I’d slap the shite out of him if he thought about moving in there. They would have killed the poor kid. The only way to revitalize that area is gentrification, and the only way to accomplish that is for Tigerland to be razed and the slumlords driven out

Fixing a problem like that is never pretty, but what’s the alternative? Worsening crime and destruction and murder threatening LSU students?

You like it so much, you go live there.

Nobody said it was entertainment but you. Nobody deserves this and hopefully nobody lived there. It seems like it could have been condemned and maybe a truly homeless person accidentally started the fire.

Riverside already lined up to tow burnt cars and charge $200/day in storage fees and penalties for parking in an active fire zone.

Glad I don’t rent anymore. One person’s mistake can become several people’s nightmare.

Convincing rappers to glorify arson would do wonders for the communities.
