Dating Widowed women

Had a question for OT dating ballers. Is it uncomfortable dating a widow. Mainly, if it was a good marriage, would you worried about being compared to someone that you can’t “compete” with?

They all lie and cheat.
Just be alone or date men.
Just be alone or date men.

You must watch a lot of Hallmark movies to ask that question

I can only speak to the inverse, my first wife passed away and it was difficult to get into dating again, but I did and after 10 years I finally met someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I've now been happily married for 15 years.
Subconsciously I was always comparing dates to my former wife. It's unavoidable.

The hell you say
"Blah blah blah my dead husband blah blah blah"
Yeah well he's dead and I'm alive. Checkmate, widow.

My wife's high school boyfriend died in a motorcycle accident when he was 16. She's convinced they would have gotten married. You know how teenage romances are, they probably broken up by the time they graduated. But she still talks about him pretty often. I've gotten used to having him around.

Why would you be competing? Accept it. He had a place in her heart and always will. Doesn’t mean she can’t learn to love you as well. It’s the opposite of competing, you can be something he never can again, morbid as it seems. There.
Alive. Warm. Passionate.
Unless you are the reason he’s dead, go for it. Don’t be self conscious. She was freed from her vow by death. No shame in moving on.

Friend I served with passed away and we are still fairly close to his widow. They were on the verge of divorce before he died and she still talks non-stop about him. We double dated with her new BF and she kept bringing him up unsolicited.

I doubt I find anyone to compare to my wife, so probably just hunt and fish and just reminisce my way till my time comes

Yikes.

Depending on how long he's been dead she's probably super horny.

Why did this get a downvote... it's exactly the experience the OPs question was looking for

God, I used to sound like this didn’t I?
I’m sorry. I can see it from a different perspective now.
Yote, seems like you are going through some stuff. Hate and anger is bitter poison. It will spread to every part of you if you keep drinking it.
Some women are gonna hurt you, it’s true. Most times you have a hand in how you allow yourself to be treated, whether you want to admit it or not. Not saying blame yourself, but realize that you control your own fate. And the end of one thing is not the end of all things, but rather the beginning of a new adventure.
Chin up fella. It gets better.

There is someone, I'm pretty sure its STDtiger, who downvotes everything I post. Doesn't bother me at all, I've come to expect it...I take it as a sign he cares.

My father is in the market after my mom died, he constantly complains about how high-school and emo all these old bitches are. They look old, but mentally they are all still in middle school.
ETA-
Every new woman he meets online, it always starts the same. Everything you could ever want to know about her dead husband, was a banker or a state senator or whatever else, greatest man in the world, I get to hear all this before I even know what she looks like or her personality. The widows wear that dead husband (and his money) on their sleeve.

Apologies for the offense here, but it sounds like you married an Alpha Widow.

Nothing wrong with playing in an abandoned playground.

My wife ( no pics she's 50 ) is a widow. She never brings him up. Never compares.
As a husband I acknowledge the marriage but I don't give it life. We do things together that we have in common.
She is the most compassionate, kind caring person I have ever met.
Some advice, let her acknowledge his birthday and his day of passing without being insecure.
