Ask any Air Force fighter pilot which plane they’d rather fly in a dogfight, a 40 year old f-16 or an f-35. Money waisted.

A buddy of mine from high school put one of these in the ocean off of SC a few years ago. He got ribbed pretty good at our high school reunion last year.

The thing is dog fights are DEAD. Likely won't happen anymore.
The 5th Gen fighters are designed to kill before the target knows they have been locked onto.

Prior to this the only crash was from a female pilot. Pilot error. I hope this dude doesn't ruin the narrative.

JK. This whole incident sucks arse. Those planes are a gazillion dollars to repair or replace.

One school of thought is that stealth and ECM are good enough now that two stealth planes will have to dogfight to kill each other.

Sure, a test pilot wasn’t up to speed on that fancy maneuver

I wonder what the Harrier cost to operate. I know there is ONE certified for private pilot VFR flight.
Saw a show about it.

That would be so awesome to land a harrier at a helipad.

My first thoughts

(A) He transitioned the nozzles to forward flight mode too early which would cause the bird to start forward, thus causing the nose down reaction or (B) mechanical problem with the vectoring of the nozzles which basically caused the same thing.

I'm thinking numero uno, due to the fact that I'm guessing he was transitioning the nozzles when he first touched down, not knowing the bird was going to bounce that high.

Pilot is apparently okay, that’s about as 0/0 as you can get.

Don't know but ejecting from that height can't be good.

Zero/Zero seat. No altitude or airspeed required.

Baw hit the ground hard though.

No problemo. A little bondo, a good buffing rag, buff that baby right off. Good as new. Then send that sucka to the Ukraine and let them Ukrainian jet jockeys fly'um.

The ejection seat? You might have to replace the upholstery on that ejection seat.

he was on the ground so i have to believe the plane engines would not shut off which is why he ejected.

The only counterargument is that the plane came to a complete stop immediately after he ejected. Does ejecting cause the engine to shut off?

Good, cause it’s on the flying schedule Monday.
