I thought Dayton and Florida State were the two best teams going into the tournament that season, which is a position that neither school has probably ever been in before and probably never will be again.

Would you say what happened to those two programs (especially Dayton) is more soul-crushing than even the 2007 Backyard Brawl? At least West Virginia lost it on the field.

The 2020 NCAAT was poised to be among one of the more interesting tournaments in a while. Lot of parity in NCAAB that year and some really solid mid majors were having great years
IMO, the NCAA not at least giving honorifics to the teams that would have made the field was just one more bad decision on top of a mountain of bad decisions made by the NCAA. It’s hard to weep for them as they gradually lose all their power over collegiate athletics that they’ve wielded so poorly.
