Right? I’m not sure if Cain has another year and even if Emery comes back you have Goodwin coming off injury but Williams just took that next step this year with his hard running style. That style running is an offense’s best friend.

We need to upgrade the talent level at the position.

I appreciate Williams production this season, but this offense needs more talent at RB. Specifically a speed back or someone with breakaway abilities

He’s very reliable but really need to add to this room from the portal.

none of them should be the starters

no offense to Williams, but if the best LSU can do is have a former walkon RB as their starter than our running game will continue to be stagnant

I agree and they will find a good freshman or two but I’m not sure who is available in the portal but I haven’t heard of anyone that I would take over how Williams played. We could always upgrade at any position but I wouldn’t be worried if he ended up being the starter next year.

There will be a lot of upset ranters if Emery starts vs FSU.

But I don't think starts are the thing as much as who gets in the bulk of the carries or perhaps we have running back by committee, at least to start the season.

Pass. I know that Leonard Fournette’s and Jeremy Hills don’t just grow on trees but we’ve got to get back to finding dominant running backs like that.

We need a bell cow like Gibbs, achane, Judkins.

Williams is good but isn’t a game changer.,

The best Ga. could do was a walk on QB and they won the NC.

Williams is a good back. He’s a winner.

Sure we need to improve the position, but I truly believe Williams is part of the solution.

Unless LSU makes a huge portal signing, Goodwin will be the starter assuming he's healthy.

John Emory has break away speed. At least speed in the 4.3s has traditionally been considered "breakaway speed

Agreed, considering all of the RBs LSU has gone up against this season. Why can't LSU football do better at the position?

Don't listen to these Bozos. They are the same guys that wanted Clyde replaced in 2019. Josh Williams is definitely the starter and I look for him to have a very Jacob Hester 2007 like season. He brings an edge and an effort that our offense lacks without him.

agreed. But he hasn't taken the reins for various reasons

Eta- he's got speed but not close to 4.3. We may have 2-3 guys on this team that are legit 4.3 guys

John Emery is not a 4.3 back

He’s not faster that Guice or Fournette, and both those guys ran in the high 4.4s. That’s still very fast for a running back

Seems we have plenty of good backs.

Hope we find a great one.
