I know we've had this type of discussion pop up before, but it seems like every other thread is about it this time.

Fun stuff in the down time until the bowl, I guess.

You mean this year or historically?

This year? Maybe.

Historically? Not even close.

I dunno. Jefferson/Lee definitely dragged on a lot longer, but this one seems more concentrated - almost like an organized push.

There was no Tiger Droppings in the 80’s, but the idiots were still clambering for Mickey Guidry to start over Tommy Hodson. I’m sure the backup quarterback white knights on this board would have been leading that charge.

Others have already said years where the hype was this loud or louder. But I would add that this is the norm. From when I was a kid when Jesse Daigle was the backup up to now I feel as if very few years the fan base was all in on the starter...

Tyler
Rohan
Mauk
Russell
Mett
Burrow

Hell Russell's 06 is even iffy. I seem to recall some wanting Flynn at some points during the year. And Flynn's 07 was filled with Perriloux noise.

And thinking even more - I recall points in 98 where Tyler was the QB and fans wanting Nall

Was worse in 2021. Bad enough that the coach gave into the mob and benched Max Johnson to play Nuss and almost kill his redshirt.

The Hodson/Guidry debate was interesting, but it was a product of Arnsparger's approach. He treated them like a starting pitcher and a middle reliever.

If Hodson needed some coaching in-game, Guidry came in for a few series. The good news for LSU is Guidry usually produced good results.

A lot of people still think Hodson threw that famous TD pass to Sammy Martin against Aggie. That was Guidry. A great ad lib by Mickey and Sammy.

2019 was the only year that no one wanted the back up in some form or fashion.

There was no social media in those days, but people were furious when Cholly Mac wouldn't give Bert Jones more playing time.

I think it took Joey B to kill it, honestly.

It’s always the next QB on the beach. JD can leave and when Nuss throws his first pick 6, everyone will turn on him and want Howard.

Nah, just the most recent. His play against Auburn and Arkansas last year along with Daniels play against Florida OM and Alabama are completely memory holed
