Apologize if this has been posted already. These are some of the reactions on national and social media to Nuss's performance in LSU's SEC championship loss posted on USA Today - LSUTigerWire.

If Nuss does end up hitting the transfer portal he’s put some great tape out tonight.

Georgia dominated LSU today but credit Garrett Nussmeier for looking good off the bench.

How good was Nussmeier?

His 294 passing yards were the most Georgia's defense gave up to a QB this season -- and he only played the second half.

@MichaelWBratton
Lsu outgained Georgia. Take away the two fluke plays and that game is much closer.

Garrett Nussmeier with a play Joe Burrow would approve of.LINK

Garrett Nussmeier has an absolute cannon??LINK

Matt Hinton
@MattRHinton
LSU wouldn't be where it is without Jayden Daniels but Garrett Nussmeier looks like a guy who with a full season under his belt might actually give them a chance in this type of game.

TTT - Sorry Chicken, I know you don't want this board to be totally about LSU having to deal with a quarterback controversy in spring ball, rather about early recruiting signing and LSU's bowl game. But it's hard to ignore, Kelly may already have one!

Cole Cubelik was praising him on Moscona today as well.

It's a bit disingenuous though. I'd love to see how he does in a normal game. Your using a whole different high risk high reward play sheet when your down by 30. He ain't throwing 30 yard passes on every down during normal gametime.

Everyone's talking about his yards. I want to know about the God-awful interception and fumble. You can throw for XXX number of yards but still be shite because you can't control your turnovers.

Wish Kelly could get Joe Burrow to have a talk with Nuss about spending hours studying defenses more. That’s all Nuss lacks.

We can’t discuss his positives and not just focus on 2 negative plays?

Nuss threw a fricking 30 yard BULLET to Nabers on that 34 yard touchdown

The Georgia safety was visibly confused that the ball came in so fast

That's Pat Mahomes type shite

Yea, but are LSU coaches prepared to answer the big time schools who will surely contact Nuss about transferring? Surely LSU wants him staying here!

Reminds me of how the Seahawks reacted to Matt Flynn having a great game.

Worked out great for Matt. Not so much for the Seahawks.

It wasn’t a godawful interception . It had the same effect as a punt . After all , the team was down by a ton of points and the kid was told to sling it . Besides , he has had no meaningful playing time .

You forget who Nuss’ daddy is. He knows how to/ how important film is.

Here’s a shocker, the biggest national story of LSU’s SEC title game, wasn’t about Kelly, Perkins or Daniels. It was all about how LSU’s backup shredded GA’s top ranked defense.

I wish we had controversies like this at more positions. Hopefully we see this sooner than later.

You are correct, but he actually doesn’t fear throwing the ball! He wants to throw it and wants to beat the defense. He has the confidence to throw guys open, which he showed. He has the processing to throw the ball away and he doesn’t assume someone is not open when they are single covered.
Btw, he knows what he’s seeing out there. Probably will have to learn a ton more, but he made shuttle plays /movements that showed he knew what was happening (as it was happening).
The turnovers…. Yeah, not good, no doubt. The expectation is he can learn from that. The same way we expected to see JD5 improve throughout the year.
We needed a safe manager this year and we absolutely got the most out of it. BUT, this year is over and we need to continue to improve. JD5 is by no means head and shoulders above the competition at QB.
As a matter of fact, if he stays I don’t think he’ll win the job next year unless he’s a totally different QB. Deep down, he should know this.

Hard to gain experience on the bench. Nuss with 12 games under his belt probably can feel pressure better. Or we can let him sit the bench for 12 more games next year and amass ~2500 yards through the air during Jayden 50th through 60th+ starts next year..

So what do you want them to do? Fire JD and give the job to Nuss?

I don’t know that answer. But answer this. Do LSU fans and coaches want this to happen to LSU, like what happened to Ohio St when Burrow transferred?
