I don’t like them either but this old mom and pop restaurant close to where I live made a Moonpie banana pudding that was great. They retired and sold to someone else that unfortunately isn’t the same anymore.

I have a funny anecdote.
When I was a senior in HS, a buddy of mine was a volunteer fireman for Union Grove VFD. This grocery store set up a Moonpie eating contest for a prize between a couple of the VFDs in the area around Morgan City, AL.
We showed up, and there was fear in the eyes of the other teams. We were both 200+ lb teenagers. He and I ate more than the other teams by ourselves. I felt kind of bad, as I was a ringer and had no business being there, but it went to a good cause.
My kids always love that story. My buddy died a couple of years ago from a heart attack at 43. RIP brother.

That is legit.
Went on a ski trip to Angel Fire/Red River and an older lady told me to try it years ago. We stopped and got one at every truck stop on the way home.

I’ve seen the times, long pack in hunts, where I destroyed a moon pie, and was so hungry that it was the best thing ever. It’s all about perspective, and I get the feeling that not so much in the near future, they are going to be very popular with me, again….
