Whom does the USMNT lean on in the future for the role? Dike? Pepi? Maybe Pefok? Are there any up and comers in that role that are developing?

I don’t think that technically solves the issue. I get we’re looking for “that guy” (and I’d love a guy but right now we don’t have one even down to USMNT U17).
Today was about a superior coach who set up his team to take away our midfield which had been a strength so far.

We didn’t lose because of a lack of striker. We do not have the class to play pretty against too European sides. You didn’t have to watch very closely today to see how far behind we are. Gregg’s system will flat out never work against top teams that are playing for a win.

France's striker didn't even have a shot on goal the entire tournament the year they won it

Probably a guy we aren’t even thinking about.

France has legit world class plays all over the team. Mbappe is going to be one of the best to ever suit up.

Oh yeah, France is a completely different animal with regards to players. It's still a funny stat though.

If we had the position, would berhalter use it? I half wonder if his game philosophy thus far is built around the mid field because of a lack of a "good" attacker. Granted pulisic and crew are excellent forwards, they haven't exactly fit the bill.

Trying to find something to be excited about as I'm not sure berhalter is going anywhere

It’s not there… not homegrown at least.

Oh shite. I see you’re the OP I’ve been fricking with. My bad, you might actually know something.

Anyway, it’s not there… I like Llanez?… but he’s not there. It was thought it might be Dike or Pepi but they’re not there yet either. Best bet is to look for that obscure talent in Europe with a US parent like Jedi is.

Comparing US Soccer to France or Spain is like comparing Vanderbilt to Bama or UGA.

We talking when they won the world cup? David Villa was a monster back then.

If we can get Flo Balogun to play for the US that would be great. He’s on Arsenal but on loan rt now in France.

He was born in New York.

He was liking some posts on the USMNT instagram today. Gregg has been working him for the last two years, need the next coach to take the baton.

He’s got 8 goals in 15 games for Reims this season. Not bad.
