Miami may be the East Coast version of the Lakers. A lot of dollars tied up in Butler, Bam, Lowry, and Hero that may not get you out of first round and declining.

Val is tradable but I’d much rather get a guy like Poeltl, Carter, or Turner to pair with him. Turner is the outlier there but I still think he’s the best center we could get without giving up Val. Carter and Poeltl would be solid to switch with Val and have access to both. We really should go after Carter.

Without Val we have 30 mil of tradable assets, with Val we have 44 mil.

Thats a nice death lineup, If Trey puts on 15lbs thats your opening lineup too.

Point taken, but I'm not really interested in starting lineup. Some players need it, some don't. I MUCH prefer keeping Trey less hammered on, during the game and saving him for the small 5 at closing time. He can also play quite a bit at 3 or 4 during most of the game. Let somebody like Val take that pounding at big 5...until crunch time. JMO

The question is what would you give up for a 1-year rental in the rest of this Turner season.

Not much. Jax,Graham, Temple

and the pels 2024 first, unprotected.

do league rules allow an extension before the deadline? if you get next year too it's a nice window to go for it.

I’m not sure but I’d definitely give up Jax, Graham, Billy and 2024 or 2025 1st. I don’t know why it would just be a 1 year rental. He could eventually replace Val and we’d have both of them for 2 playoff runs before we need another backup.

shite Val might even stay at that point if we are making deep runs and he doesn’t have to play 30 min a night.

The Pels need to stay the course with their roster and keep their picks as cheap development talent since we won’t be able to pay for everyone. No need to trade for talent. Our trades should be to bring in more picks when a player can’t get run on the roster or we can’t pay them.

It would be a better culture and a more sustainable risk adverse plan.

The current roster should be viewed a championship contender. They are only going to continue to get better.

Pacers aren’t trading turner to us or the lakers or anyone else. He fits with what they have

JV, Hayes, Graham, Lakers 1st, and a few other picks could land a rising star.

Reverse psychology here. The executives fear the Pels holding their chips and landing Wembanyama. We would be extremely hard to beat.

Woj just brought up another possibility:

Nicola Vucevic is in the last year of his contract, and he and the Bulls reached an impasse in discussion on an extension.

He's making $22 million this season. What would we be willing to give up for a 1-year rental on him?

Why would we do that? We are already “winning now.”

ETA: This team has not played its best basketball yet.

I’m so sick of people telling us to keep every single one of our drafts picks. We have 9 1st round picks and 13 2nd round picks for the next 8 years.

You only get 15 fricking roster spots and we are also going to keep 8-10 of our players for the next 5+ years. We can’t even use half those picks with how good our current roster is. Stop saying this bullshite. We can use half those picks to upgrade, still draft well with 4-5 1st and 2nd round picks and compete for 10 years.

Y’all are acting like this is the old pelicans/ hornets team with a trash roster and barely any draft picks to use.

Who are we getting rid of in the next 5-8 years to use 8 late 1st and 13 2nds?? Jose? BI? Trey? Herb? Zion? Dyson? 2023 Lottery? That’s 7 guys that aren’t going anywhere. Stop with this crap. Especially the way we are getting undrafted players and hitting on 2nds. It’s complete bullshite we don’t need to keep all those picks.

It’s 100% an opinion and emotions that stem from past years.

There are teams that have 0 draft picks the next 5+ years and sold their soul with an average core age of 30 y/o. And some of yall are scared to trade 4-5 picks when we’d still have 4-5 1st, unlimited 2nds, and 8+ players in rotation with an average age of 23 y/o. We aren’t crippling our future by doing that especially if it adds another core piece that we would have for 5+ years.

I rather go for the good role players. Josh Richardson, Naz Reid, Malik Beasley, and McDermott to name a few. You can also get Poetl for cheap since he be an UFA next year.

We still need a solid backup 5. Especially if we could have another guy for nights like tonight when we are forced to play through our bigs.

Rival execs should worry that the Pels won’t need to make a trade.

I just think we have a good thing going with the team we have. We could try to upgrade some of the deep bench, but I do t think you go get an expensive player that creates an even tougher cap situation.

Small market team trying to stack talent constantly to flip later if needed.

Naz Reid would be perfect for us as a backup 5. But I think Nance is doing a great job at that role. Murphy should also improve too.

Nance would be better as a backup 4 with another rim protector at the 5. That way he isn’t risking injury or doing too much while being undersized. Naz Reid is on that list with Wendell Carter and Poeltl
