Risk limiting audits and recounts really don't do the job. Again, it doesn't instill confidence to get pushback when asking questions or raising concerns. If I were a SOS in 2020 I'd have taken it as my responsibility to open everything up and demonstrate quality work even if not asked. Large parts of many constituencies were casting doubt, seems like you'd want to get ahead of it. That's just basic public service IMHO. If you were a vendor to a company and said company was concerned, you would have to show your work and calm them else you would lose your contracts. Somehow public service is different, doesn't make sense.

I'm not sure what the SOS could do different here. They're following the laws set forth to hold the election. Pushing people to follow the process and uphold their duties. They've made the information available on process and duties to the public vis the web.

I'd love them to do a walk through of a vote lifecycle or something so people understood it but hey it's out there if you want to read at least.

There wasn't really anything to show with lake lawsuit. They didn't have any evidence of fraud.

With the Cochise guys was the same thing they didn't have a leg to stand on.

The system can't be answer every baseless fraud claim. And anyone claiming fraud without evidence should be ashamed. If evidence is presented i think it would be actioned on and has in the past when fraud was uncovered

Did you watch the clown show debates on PBS with the Republican primary candidates?

It was such a massive conspiracy theory shitshow I can see why Hobbs decided not to debate.

If Robson had won the primary I believe she would have won as governor. She would have won over many of the independents.

Yeah that's true. But would it be any different with her staff running the show while she was recussef?

I do agree that would probably be the smart move though to avoid additional election drama.

How is that normally handled in AZ with SOS? When they run as incumbent or other offices? Was this out of norm? I legit don't know

SOSs run for reelection and for other offices all the time. They still have legal obligations to perform during elections, but they are largely ceremonial. In reality, elections are primarily handled by counties.

The thought that elections should happen without candidates standing up and presenting their platform against an opposing platform is amazingly destructive.

You don’t want democracy.

That’s quite the argument.

“I didn’t recuse cause my staff would have used the office for my benefit anyway.”

I think she should have debated….but can understand why she chose not to.

Those saying Hobbs didn’t campaign though don’t know what they are talking about and clearly don’t live in AZ

Hobbs had numerous ads running. Multiple ads against Kari Lake. She spoke at events. Hell…Obama was here campaigning for her and Kelly

No, the recap is if you are going to challenge election results, then bring some fricking evidence with you.

Certification of elections cannot be delayed just because you don't like the results. Investigations will not be started just because an election was close. And you really should not sue in Federal Court - before or after an election - without evidentiary support for your claims.

Why were they covering the counting windows during the 2020 election?

If you can't answer this, then shut the frick up.

Local news cast on election day. There was a lot of very unhappy people testifying against certifying this shite show.

Why didn't she? Because she would have got her arse handed to her.

Why did Hobbs run into the bathroom like a fricking coward?

I meant more than if she recussef herself we'd be arguing about how her deputy of elections isn't impartial.

It appears she didn't because it's abnormal for SoS to do so in elections.

There were members of both parties in that room. People out in the hall were taking photos and videos of potentially confidential voter information.

Like I said you don’t want democracy. Candidates that think winning is more important than informing the voters of what they stand for and who they are have no respect for public office.

She didn’t campaign. She did have TONS of outside money running ads for her. Again, this was a strategy to let the machine win.

Your acceptance of it is telling. I’d have a lot more respect for someone who just said they support her politics.

He knows. He’s been told this countless times but thinks all those videos are fake and people are lying.

She had/has state republicans on her side. They were scared to lose out on hosting the super bowl.

The whole thing is a corrupt shitshow. Not unlike anything we see here in Louisiana.

Candidates can inform voters without debating an opponent on a stage.
