It was an idea by Chuck Miller and later John Greenwood. Not sure I could ever get used to that, but the extra trunk space would be nice.

I saw one of these in Spain and had no idea what it was. They also had a lot of car based delivery vans by Citoren and Fiat.

I think it is better described as a "conversion kit" on an existing platform. That is the way Chuck Miller and John Greenwood marketed it. There were a couple different variations of the kit.
