If the Saints win a couple of games down the stretch or end the season looking like a real football team, Allen will 100% get another season. We basically want 5 more SF games to force Mickey's hand.

I’m not going to root against the Saints, but thanks for the heads up.

Team won't get a top coach because of the shitty situation, no QB, no 1st round pick, limited depth due to cap, cap hell for the next 3+ years... Reality is, we are probably stuck with Allen for at least 1 more year until they can address some of those situations. Allen will be able to replace the coordinators and other coaches as he sees fit. Hopefully Loomis doesn't trade away next year's 1st and we have another dreadful year in 2023 with the team picking in the top 5. Then we can dump Allen in 2024, get a new HC and let him pick his guy with our draft pick and move forward while still trying to fix the cap hell.

Any other year, you would be rooting to lose out for a higher draft pick ... how is this different?

Are you looking forward to a 6-11 season next year? Do you think Allen is the right guy for the job? IMO, anything that gets Allen out of that job sooner is the right thing for the Saints, so is what we should be rooting for.

I don’t know about that. There are only so many head coaching jobs in the NFL.

We don't need a top coach, we need a young, innovative offensive coach. We aren't trying to get a current Sean Payton, we should be shooting for 2006 Sean Payton (who was passed over for the Packers job)

We really need to lose a lot of these remaining games for Allen to go imo. I don't think we do it if we win a couple more games. I want us to. It's clear as day to me that he needs to go. But I'm not confident that Loomis sees it that way

I think Allen gets another season regardless. Would be better to see he at least had the competence to win some games.

But the problem is he doesn't have the competence. If we win it'll be in spite of him. He is not a good head coach plain and simple

You guys need to get it out of your hear that Allen is getting fired after only one year.

I don't care about if they can or if they should, they ain't so buckle in.

i doubt it, but then be careful what you wish for. yes we all agree DA is trash and needs to be gone yesterday, but then who will replace him?

remember as big a problem as DA is, ML is equally a very very big problem that is hurting this team year after year but he will not be going anywhere so we are stuck with his terrible decision making in hiring the next coach

There is no guarentee they fire him if we lose.

May as well have a shot at some chaos and maybe sneaking in the POs to wreck someones good time.

Eff that! I want the Saints to win out and make a playoff run. I am holding out hope that perhaps Allen will figure it out like he did coaching defense. How many years did I want him fired in the first half of the season only for the defense to turn it around. I also want the pick we traded to be worth as little as possible.

Hoping to lose so you can be right is pretty shitty.

understandable thinking, but then we need the best draft picks we can get, so while we dont have a 1st, if we get a top 5 pick in the other rounds, who cares if that means the eagles get our top 5 1st pick, that ship has already sailed, and a top 5 2nd rounder isnt much different then having the last pick in the 1st as far as players that are there for you.

yes you dont have that 5th yr option, but its about getting the best draft picks you can get to help rebuild this team.

that said, i completely expect loomis to trade our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th picks and a 2024 pick as well to move up to the middle 1st round to draft a WR or project player

he's already getting another one anyway

No coach gets fired after winning 4+ games in their first season with a team. Especially when the team is as injured as ours

I agree he should be fired because he's clearly not the guy but he won't be

Hopefully we bottom out next year, get a top pick in 2024 and fire him after that

With the situation as it is right now, it’s probably best he just stay for one more shitty season. We’ll get worse before we get better, especially with no draft picks. Let me tank hard next season and get a top 5 pick so we can get a QB. Then start 2024 with fresh blood at coach and QB. We may be able to get a better coach with a better situation

True, but you better believe most if not all will get their picks before the Saints do. Carolina, Indy will be better situations than NOLA. If LAC or Az move on from their coaches, they move to the top of the list for all eligible HCs.

Denver is slightly better than the Saints because of their cap, but if that coach is not sold on Wilson NOLA would have the advantage

I am sure there are a few others with potential openings, but you get my point

I’d rather let Allen tank us next year and we clear cap and tank for Caleb Williams

if allen stays its 100% certain they trade most of our picks next year plus give away our 24 1st to move up to middle 1srt round and we draft another WR

nothing will change with the lack of player evaluations and coaching, or giving away future drafts as long as loomis is the GM

Barring something crazy, I don’t think Allen gets fired this year. They will say injuries were bad, get a new coordinator or two, then he will be given another year. Now if things remain the same, he may be fired mid-season next year, but it won’t be this year.
