Would you hire this human being for any coaching job?

BOULDER, Colo. -- Deion Sanders said Monday that a report stating Colorado has offered him its head-coaching job is true and that he also has received interest from other schools.
quote:
Known as "Prime Time" during his playing career, the magnetic Sanders prefers "Coach Prime" these days. He said the offer to coach the Buffaloes isn't a distraction.
"To someone else that hasn't been that dude, it's intoxicating. I've been 'Prime' for a long time, dawg," Sanders said with a laugh. "Attention ain't nothing new to me. Like, come on. I'm not being braggadocious -- that's a wonderful word, isn't it? I just came up with that -- but this isn't new to me. Being in the spotlight isn't new to me."
ESPN
He's breaking Cardinal rules of coaching searches. Athletic directors don't like to look bad and he is making the Colorado AD look like an idiot. This is a perfect example of why he won't make it at the P5 level. He has no impulse control.

If you pursue Coach Prime and you don't know and accept that he seeks the limelight, your coaching search already failed in its due diligence.

Much better than trotting out another milquetoast retread like Karl Dorrell

I sure as hell wouldn’t have wanted Wisconsin to hire him, but if I’m a Colorado fan, why not?

I think he would add some much needed to juice to that pathetic program. But, you gotta wade through the non sense of someone like him

What does Colorado really have to lose? I would take that gamble. If it doesn’t work realistically you won’t be any worse than you already were

And Prime Time rolling around Boulder is a fantastic visual

Is he claiming to have invented the word "braggadocios"?

It's not even the ego trip and him dumping you 5 minutes after a better offer comes around. That goes with that territory.
It's the media circus I'd be worried about. All the starfricker reality show crap that everybody's going to throw at you. Are you going to throw away your integrity as an academic institution for a "Primetime U" television series or whatever they're going to throw at them?

This could be amazing theater. Not to bring in politics but the admin and Boulder elite will be wrapped up in a serious mental pretzel with what to do with this guy.

Ryan Walters, the defensive coordinator at Illinois, is a Colorado alum and one of the hottest young coaching prospects in the country.
He's black, which apparently means a lot to Colorado, and he's a serious person.
Dorrell was a horrible hire - maybe the worst I've ever seen. That doesn't mean there aren't good coaches they can hire.

Sure. How much worse could Colorado get?

Why not? If he doesn’t take it then he’s competing against them to an extent in recruiting so why not say yeah they wanted me but I am happy where I am? I’d love for a HC to come out and say “yeah, Auburn wanted me but I’ve got it as good as it gets at Ole Miss and we’re building something and no way I’m going to Auburn” especially. Wing in the same division of the same conference. Of course that one didn’t go down that way but just using it as an example.

The background check on Freeze was extensive, and the school hired a P.R. consultant to handle the expected blowback in bringing him aboard. They are jumping through a lot of hoops for Freeze.
So is Auburn paying you by the post, or a weekly rate?

prime needs colorado more than colorado needs prime. he needs to put some time in at a g5 or low level p5 before he can be seriously considered to lead an upper tier/elite p5 program.

quote:You say that as if Coach Prime has been unethical or immoral. Someone at the school likely leaked the offer and Deion is responding like almost any coach would do, heading off the story the first chance he got.

Can you name anything that would cause you to refer to Sanders as "this human being"???

What does Auburn have to do with this?
I have nothing to do with Auburn, and this story has nothing to do with Auburn.
