Has Lamar helped or hurt himself by not signing yet?

Started hot first 3-4 weeks but has been very average since then.

They really have no choice but to resign him with no viable alternative but will it end up being for basically what he could have had last year?

I was looking at his stats on Sunday and they’re…not good. Look at where he ranks as a passer

He has essentially been a game manager

But they keep winning. And I guess the fans in Baltimore like him?

He will get paid regardless but the fact that he will get as much as he will and actually won an an NFL MVP is completely and utterly laughable.

He’s aight. Honestly Lamar is one of the guys you can’t look at their stats. I went to the Ravens Saints game and he basically controlled the entire game and pissed down the Saints throat. If you didn’t watch the game and only checked the stats on ESPN though, you might have thought it was a meh performance.

He will get overpaid, but he probably does deserve more than Dak technically and the rapist Deshaun. Also, the NFL Salary cap can be so easily manipulated it barely even matters what he is paid.

They can tag him for the next 2 years but the exclusive tag will average about $50 million a year and he could hold out.

The non-exclusive tag will be around $13 million less per year but other teams can offer him giant wads of cash that the Ravens would have to choose to match or not. I wouldn't be surprised if some other team made him a stupid offer. The Ravens would get a couple of firsts if he signed somewhere else on the non-exclusive tag though.

It's a tough situation to be in. Losing a guy you know can win games and becoming another team looking for an answer at QB has got to be scary. Huntley went 1-3 last year.

The question is obviously guaranteed money and it seems like there's no way the Ravens and Lamar wll see eye to eye on that given his playing style. The Ravens offered him $133 million guaranteed for 6 years but Lamar wanted $230 million so that's a massive gap in guaranteed money.

Every day he gets closer to URFA is more impactful to his payday at this point that his play on Sundays. NFL front office guys aren’t sitting around wondering if he can play QB at a high level any more.

If he hits the open market he’ll sign the biggest deal the leagues seen (until the next guy signs). If the ravens want to prevent that then they’ll need to pony up and sign him to one of the biggest deals this leagues ever seen (until the next guy signs)

A sad state of affairs when Lamar will get more than Mahomes and Allen

Though Herbert will also get more than all of them

He's had almost negative weapons since Andrews and Bateman have been hurt.

go take a look at last years stats too. He’s an above average QB at best. Baltimore will never win a SB with him.

HELPED!!! It isn’t so much about Lamar at this point but the lack of quality to sign an adequate QB… the league is about to lose 2 GOATS (Brady & Rodgers) and you only have 1 guy everyone is sold on as a potential GOAT (Mahomes) and 2 others still talented but improving (Allen & Burrow). I’m not sold on Herbert…

One could argue that they have already been lost.

He will most likely help himself just for the simple fact that those top numbers keep climbing. He will be paid as one of the highest, if not the highest, QBs in the league. By him "holding out" on a new contract, he's opened the door to potential bidding from other teams; which will increase what he gets offered. Ravens can keep tagging him, and as long as he stays healthy, he'll get a huge contract.

Don't know if it was said for clicks, but Payton has already implied where he goes next year, he could be interested in trying to lure Jackson there. If Balt tags him, depending on what a team offers the Saints for Payton they could try to make a play for him (assuming he won't already have Herbert)

If Chargers miss playoffs then Staley is gone and Payton seems like an obvious fit

Probably depends on how well he performs in playoffs along with Ravens overall. Possible he can kick it up a notch and use legs more, which is tough to maintain for a 17 game season.

If Baltimore pays him, they will be paying an above average qb, 35mil, and playing for top 10 draft picks

And once his legs go, he's fricked as a qb

there are even fewer people who can play qb at "top 15 qb in nfl" than can hit a curve ball .280 of the time.

so goal #1 is to get through uninjured. imo he's already top 15.
if he's uninjured and available he's getting outside offers.
goal 2 is make playoffs

goal 3 is look real good in playoff game. ideally win one but at least play well in the playoff game.

he does that and he gets more choices.

He’s not the only problem. Many aspects of the offense aren’t great, the defense gives up too many big plays, they’ve had more key injuries this year. He hasn’t played very good recently, but the Ravens have a number of issues.
