Then you must have better than a third grade education. SULC requires a bachelor's from an accredited university

Without naming any names are there any decent lawyers in BR who went to SU Law school, in your opinion?

Quite a few, yes. The reality is that, while some law schools will have their graduates a bit better prepared right out of school, the gap between what someone graduates from law school with and what is required to be a good, not even great, just good, legal practitioner, is huge. fricking massive. I truly love teaching and training up young lawyers, but I'll be the first to admit that any lawyer within their first year of practice is a potential liability in the courtroom if they don't have significant supervision.

It usually takes the first six months or so for them to really find their voice. Then the six month mark to the two year mark should, if the lawyer has people around them who care about them, be the greatest period of gaining knowledge, skills, and general competence in their entire career. Two year to five year mark is when they should really be polishing things up, especially if they want to do serious courtroom litigation.

Beyond that point is what decides whether someone is going to be a good attorney or not. The law is constantly changing, society is constantly changing, people are constantly changing. You can have a great lawyer in year five who is a shite lawyer in year 15 because they haven't kept up and stayed sharp. You have to keep learning, every day, forever. It's a true Red Queen scenario: run as fast as you can to stay in the same place. If you slow down, you go backwards.

Now, I appreciate that was an extremely long winded, arguably tangential, answer to your question. But I gave it to drive home the point that the law school someone graduated from matters a little bit for the very beginning of their career. Beyond that? Doesn't matter a ton to me from where you graduated. All I care about is whether you have put in, and still put in, the work to perform at a high level.

As long as you are 25, you're probably good to go

I did not know this. According to your previous post they would have found their voice by then, but even though they may be a great lawyer in 5 could be shite in 15. Interesting.

It never fricking stops. Nothing will ever be enough. The truth is, if you are a black law grad with decent grades, you will have a nice job waiting for you.

Just more cash for the schools. Lowered standards means full enrollment. Everyone’s money is good?

Don’t pass? Who cares. There are people waiting for the spots. And the school is off the hook because “hey you made us lower the standards”.

It is never the strength of your argument that works in court, it is all in how you argue and present your case.

From what I've heard, the LA bar exam is a complete fricking joke these days. Combine that with eliminating the LSAT and we're in for a disaster
