Should Zion come off the bench?

Not a knock on Zion but inserting Murphy in the starting lineup has been a plus for spacing and defense. The starters already have enough offense with ball-dominant CJ and BI. Pairing Zion with the second unit (Jose/Dyson/Nance) would add some offensive firepower to that defensive lineup.

I’d like to see home come off the trainers table.

I asked my buds this same question this morning. Hopefully everyone else has gotten the confidence in their play making ability in these last two games without Z that they will continue to play at a high level when he returns. I do think that if he were to play on the second team, he'd be a menace.

The problem is not Zion, it is Jonas + Zion(at least currently, hopefully they figure it out)
The CJ, Herb, BI, Zion, Nance lineup is a ridiculous +38 Net Rating.
The CJ, Herb, Bi, Zion, JV lineup is a whopping +.02
Note the difference.
Griff is gonna have to figure out that the center he seems to be in love with(classic lumbering drop bigs that occupy large space around the rim ala Favors, Adams, Jonas) simply do not work well with Zion.

JV’s +/- before last night was .03. That’s the issue. For what you get from him on offense, you lose in defense and pace. Combine that with Zion’s defense and you have a lineup that is less than ideal. I’d rather see Zion on the court than JV. It’s hard for them to co-exist on the court together. It’s unfortunate that Hayes has not developed.

I would replace Herb with Trey in the starting lineup.
Then I would play as many minutes as I could when other starters come out of Zion with Jose/Herb/Dyson

Let’s just send him to the G League until he develops a right hand

Not reading that, came here just to downvote this nonsense from the thread title

Why not start Zion, Jose, dyson, nance that way the other team scores less against the defensive lineup the u bring in the offensive lineup against their 2nd team so we could be up by 50 at half against everybody ??

I don't know why everyone is so afraid to admit it - maybe because they fanboy Zion so much - but as of now, the team plays better without him.

I'd love to see what your are basing this on. Five man lineups with Zion that have the worst net rating?

Yeah and the Miami Heat should’ve benched Bosh when D Wade went they started 9-8 their first year with the big three

3-1 without him.
Offense looks much more fluid when he hasn't played. We've actually created open/easy looks these past two games which hasn't been the case here recently.
CJ actually shooting well has definitely helped out. Hopefully we'll keep this style of offense up when he comes back. No doubt he can distribute and kick out to open threes when he's on the court.

You know this is a very good point. It took those guys a long time to gel.
I'm guilty of being impatient, but I think we need to give this a full season at least to let them and the coaches figure it out.

The grizz were 20-5 without Ja last year. I guess they should have brought him off the bench too.

This thread is becoming a strong candidate for the 2022 sequel to the 2021 classic: "Honest Zion Talk for Emotional Intelligent Folks"
