Trump knows he’s done.

He knows he can’t win. The best he did, in 2016, was 46.1% of the vote. It was just strategically enough to win the EC. Now, that 46.1% is whittling away.
Trump’s plan is to run, collect money, then withdraw if things don’t change dramatically. When he withdraws, he’ll have a few hundred billion dollars from all the Trumpkins. He will use that money to be a kingmaker, and in return, the elected politicians will make foreign aid contingent on kickbacks to Jared Kushner’s funds.
That’s the plan. And if the long shot comes through, and strange political fortunes ignite the MAGA rocket again, he’ll ride that to the WH. But that’s not the basic plan.
