We all know they have money. They used it to get Cannizzaro to come coach high school and that worked out
Are they in the Coach O market? He could still say “Geaux Tigahs”

I heard a few weeks back that he was told he was not going to be retained.

Surprised. He was not a good fit there, and a change was needed. But, he was an alum and his family was/is (not sure if they still are) huge financial backers of the school. But, no playoff wins since he took over, and the team didn't look good this year, even before injuries mounted. Wonder where he winds up if this is true.

He can go back to Hahnville cause Luquet ain’t working out.

Meh I would have given him more time… Salt’s a true Holy Cross man and too good of a coach not to turn it around

Coach Salt is a heck of a coach. Tough to compete in NOLA at a school with average athletics compared to the rest of the Top Tier Catholic Schools

The problem is enrollment, HC just does not have the numbers like Jesuit and Brother Martin. Salt wanted to drop down to what the enrollment called for, and most alumni agreed with him, but it was shot down by the administration.
ETA: HC could have kept Chalmette and Jesuit as non-district games, which are HC two biggest games (Chalmette has been non-district for years).

They don’t have Jesuit and BM enrollment, but it’s on a par with Rummel, St Aug, and Karr, and bigger than John Curtis’s
And they crush Chalmette every year now and our enrollment is one of the biggest there is

what Salt did at East Jeff in 2013 is nothing short of a miracle. 8 shutouts and beating Neville (away) and Karr to win the State Championship. Still hard to believe that even happened.

They also went through Warren Easton in the quarterfinals

This and Holy Cross should have moved to Kenner when they relocated.
Few kids are gonna ride past the schools within a couple of miles of them (Jesuit, BM, SA) especially with a shrinking private school demographic - even more so a shrinking catholic school demographic. Has he ever left a job without some strife behind the scenes(sans chalmette)

I expect a couple more 5a jobs to come open real soon, more desirable than the HC job.

That would have been dumber than remaining in the lower 9th ward… they would be so out of the way compared to their rivals it wouldn’t be funny.

Heard the admin wants the former Rummel OC and current Riverside Head Coach.

Call up Gabe Fertitta and bring him home

Current locale is not a problem. He struggled both times he was a head coach at private schools (Vermilion Catholic in Abbeveille and HC). I don't think anyone expects HC to be a top 5 school in NO, but it appeared to be trending higher with the last coach. There's a new principal now, and I guess he wants a say in athletics.

I’m one of the alumni who wants to remain in the Catholic league and Salt was my position coach in fall of 87. He has the program headed in the right direction. He had 9 starters hurt and was starting a receiver at qb for the last few games. I hope this is just internet talk because I’m not seeing it reported by the school or athletic department.

Honestly that’s a short list… we know they’ll pay, and not many jobs have access to the talent in a metro of 1.3 million, even if you have to share it with others
