From what I hear and read, he is doing the right stuff. He has a great pedigree.

I hope the new HM makes a great hire. They need better overall talent and a higher enrollment to compete.

Spoke with a guy who usually is in the know tonight and he told me the headmaster told him that he is not planning on making a change. Take it for what it is worth.

If Salt were to be let go I think it would be the new HM wanting his own people in there. I do wonder how much of the "Holy Cross Man" thing is going to live on with a HM that has no connection to the past of the school.

Big changes, of course, can be good or bad. It does seem like HC needs to be shaken up a bit.

Da Parish can't feed HC like it once did... HC has outpriced most of the residents. Those who can afford it can also easily go to Jesuit or BM.

Across the metro area... fewer kids are going to catholic high schools. So the student pool is less... and it seems like HC no longer has a natural pool. Many JP kids aren't passing up Rummel... and if they do... they are going to BM or Jesuit.

I know about 35 kids who go to HC. Every single one of them - all 35 - have a prior connection - a dad or a grandfather or an uncle or a brother went there, or a parent works there, etc.

HC I think has a risk of becoming the odd man out unless they can develop a niche of some sort. Kinda like what De La Salle did. They will never compete against the larger schools... but they found that being co-ed and having smaller classes made them attractive to enough kids to make it work.

HC is no longer a 5A school in any capacity - not in attendance, not in prestige, not in performance, etc. They can work to try to get back to that level, or they can accept that they are smaller and focus on being successful at their enrollment.

And if they throw Salt out... well if he can call more than three offensive plays, or if he can teach DBs how to cover, he can come back to Chalmette =_

THe new location also means less kids from the westbank, 20 years ago Rummel had very few if any westbankers. and that shrinking catholic school demographic is hitting all of them, Jesuits reject list is much much shorter than it used to be.

So if that’s the case then that’s bad news for the maroon and white? Because if they’re not, surely we’re not

Yeah if we were in the Catholic League, but I think we’d be middle of the pack in the Northshore district

I’m sure that I am biased bc he was my LB coach but he also went a perfect 10-0 at Chalmette and won a state title at East Jefferson. The man can lead and coach.

We got skull dragged by a 4A Lakeshore team. We would beat Fountainbleu but I'm not sure we would be better than any other team in that district on a consistent basis.

We might do better in the bayou district.

I don't know a whole lot about their past history, but I think they made it to the finals with some talent a few years back.

I can tell you that I know their HC now, and would be willing to bet that most likely won't change as long as he is there.

He has a habit of winning wherever he goes.

So much of HC natural base ( Chalmette, Algiers and NoEast) from 40 years ago is living in Slidell, Picayune and Madisonville .

HC needs to get its ACT average up. That is what is hurting attendance. When you got kids bypassing HC for BM who live in Metairie. However, BM gets a lot of kids from NO East and Gentilly and splits up some of the 7th ward with St Aug
