I’m 64 years old and retiring this December, I’ve been working in some capacity since I was 14 years old.

I’m totally old school when it comes to personal finances….excluding a couple of home mortgages and some automobiles loans years ago we don’t buy unless we have the cash to purchase….it’s worked pretty well over the past +40 years. We haven’t bought a new automobile in 20 years and we made extra payments on our home mortgage to pay it off early.

We’re certainly not wealthy but if we don’t spend money carelessly the wife and I should be good until we check out of this earthly domain, and we can have a lot of enjoyment with the money we’ve squirreled away before we check out.

My message to Boomers is do not feel obligated to leave a shite load of money to your children and grandchildren, enjoy yourselves, you’ve worked +40 years, you’ve earned it.

If you’re a Boomer with children and grandchildren who are America First/MAGA types I can understand wanting to kick them some bucks when you check out, but for you Boomers that have children and grandchildren that are voting against your best interests and expecting you to drop that pot of gold at their feet when you check out…..

I’ve never checked into the reverse mortgage thing. We’re seriously thinking about buying another home around the Muscle Shoals area and using VRBO to generate income when we’re away from either home.

Jesus what a shitty thing to say or feel. Family is family regardless of political beliefs.

Oh, you still love your children and grandchildren but you certainly don’t reward them for making your life more difficult. The millennials and Gen Z need to get out there and make it happen, take care of your parents for a change…like the old days use to be.

There’s nothing I can do. I fought the good fight and I’ve washed my hands, my conscience is clear…..it’s all yours, this deteriorating society is what you weak minded fools have fought for.

I’m with you there. I help my parents as much as I can. They are around your age.

When I was a young boy in the 60’s I remember going to my uncles and aunts homes and they cared for their elders until they passed…they died in their homes with their families.

God bless you Mickey, you’re a decent man for looking after your parents.

Thank you, Sir. I try. I wouldn’t be where I am without them so I try to make it up to them as much as I can to say thanks.

Sorry for you BT. Some kids don't appreciate what they've got. If I had kids who did not appreciate their situation or share many of my values, I'd probably feel the same way.

I’ve got one daughter who went full woke during the Saint George Floyd fiasco….I’m not giving up on her yet…I gave her one of my Bibles with my personal notes still inside, had a good talk with her and handed her the Bible and told her to start in the NT.

Now, I am at the age where the women my age far outnumber the men. However, they are old and wrinkly so I don't want to waste Viagra on them. I always heard you can't buy love, but I am afraid I am going to have to learn the hard way and buy some younger love.

Lol…I don’t know how old you are but I’ve seen women who are over 70 and are still quite attractive and in shape for that age.

I’m a Gen X’er.

Shocking Boomers once again don’t think about anyone but themselves. Enjoy your retirement. We’ll be cleaning this shite up for decades.

Keep chopping wood baw……just like your parents and grandparents did. Be strong!

BTW….The wife and myself were given very little by our parents but what little we got we appreciated that gift.

I came from a family of nine and my wife was from divorced parents and her mother was a house keeper for the rich folks. Everything we have is from hard work and sacrifice. If you live long enough you’ll figure it out.

Me too.

Quit a couple of years ago. I will never see financial returns equivalent to my efforts. And I will never work for anyone else again. Frick em all.

Encouraging the adult kids to work for themselves and be self sufficient.
