And that's the issue... most of Gen Z who are voting to bankrupt this country via wallet crippling blue policies have lived off their mom and dad's tit their entire lives. Zero responsibility because mom and dad pay for everything.

If you’re a Boomer with children and grandchildren who are America First/MAGA types I can understand wanting to kick them some bucks when you check out, but for you Boomers that have children and grandchildren that are voting against your best interests and expecting you to drop that pot of gold at their feet when you check out…..

quote:I'm in the same boat as you, BUT I've kept my kids involved with world affairs through the years, and through our conversations, consequently they've developed mature and realistic social opinions.
I’m 64 years old and retiring this December, I’ve been working in some capacity since I was 14 years old.
I’m totally old school when it comes to personal finances….excluding a couple of home mortgages and some automobiles loans years ago we don’t buy unless we have the cash to purchase….it’s worked pretty well over the past +40 years. We haven’t bought a new automobile in 20 years and we made extra payments on our home mortgage to pay it off early.
We’re certainly not wealthy but if we don’t spend money carelessly the wife and I should be good until we check out of this earthly domain, and we can have a lot of enjoyment with the money we’ve squirreled away before we check out.
My message to Boomers is do not feel obligated to leave a shite load of money to your children and grandchildren, enjoy yourselves, you’ve worked +40 years, you’ve earned it.

I completely agree with you about having a choice regarding inheritance, only I wish parents had/would spend a little time on a regular basis talking about world affairs with their kids as soon as they're old enough to understand.

You don’t even realize how incredibly selfish you sound in your post!
Boomers who have worked their whole lives, saved enough money to enjoy their retirement are the selfish ones? Is that what you are really saying??
Your generation needs to get out and work, go work at a job that offers benefits for retirement and healthcare, open an IRA account. It might not be fun and you might not support the agenda of the companies that offer these benefits, but that’s what we all did!
Suck it up buttercup and support yourself!

I can't imagine not wanting your kids to do better and have a better life.
I wouldn't want my children or grandchildren to have to go through some of the shite I had to as a kid.

What shite did he leave you you will be cleaning up? He worked hard, saved his money, stayed out of debt, except for major things, pays them off early.

Yeah if I had a kid that was a liberal I wouldn’t leave them shite
Unfortunately I can’t get married because all the boomers raised their daughters to become fat tattooed single moms
I guess that’s what happens to your kids when you get divorced because you’re “unhappy”

They were shitty parents who inflated the egos of the younger generation with their “everyone gets a trophy” bullshite,
Mrs. M used to get pissed at me for not easing up on our kids, especially our boys, when playing basketball, baseball, football or even board games for that matter. My response, which she quickly supported, was “when they can win, they will win. Life will give them nothing so neither am I”. (I may have taken it a bit far in basketball fouling more and more often as I aged to offset my waning skills in hopes of keeping ahead of them.)
I still have the golf ball I was using (marked with date and score) when my youngest son first beat me. A very proud but profound and humbling moment. A first glimpse at temporal mortality and the changing of the guard.
My kids are not spoiled, lazy, nor do they have any sense of entitlement. They’re all unselfish, productive, hard working, responsible citizens. I think there’s more Boomers out there that raised their kids as we did than you realize.

Don't disagree, but I have one child who is mildly autistic, and I plan to leave them a decent sum. Just my style. Other 2 should get a nice pickup also as a result.
PS: I'm 64 and retired at 61 due to the politics of the job I was in. Looked at my 401K balance and said screw it. I plan on taking SS at my full retirement age since I do some temp work still.

I had a point that anyone who wasn't completely self assured of their own infallibility could see. Which is also the point when discussing things with boomers.
poor things - cant frame an argument; though the argument must be aggressive anyway

You fricks inherited the most advanced, comfortable and safe society in history and you still let 'radicals' paint the narrative that America was horribly oppressive and wrong, and thus was torn down and here we are today. Your 'contribution' was that you did drugs and listened to the fricking Beatles.
Western civilization is burning. Congrats.
