I will not be bullied into supporting a candidate: Trump, Desantis, or anyone else

This is getting ridiculous. Backing a candidate shouldn’t be about which team you are on but the ideas that candidate has for the future. Blindly backing a candidate based on name recognition or title is what leftist do. I backed Trump early in 2015 because of his ideas on the border, jobs, etc. not because of the person. I want a robust debate about policy and the future of our country, not about grievances of the past or what someone did for someone else.
And yes, I do agree that the 2020 and the 2022 elections were corrupt due to mail-in ballots and rule changes. But that is a state issue that needs to be fixed on a state level or the national and state Republican Party needs to learn how to fight dirty like dems.
I will wait to back a candidate when I hear what they will do to make my family’s life better. I will not be bullied to back a candidate based on the name of the candidate. The only way we get to that point is with respectable debate over ideas, not trashing people within their own party.

You sound like a threat to democracy.

They both should run…. I’m sure that will work out well for the country.

Actions speak louder than words. I've seen what Trump can do in office, and his accomplishments speak for themselves. You can say the same about DeSantis. However, based on the job that Trump did I feel that he deserved reelection in 2020, and I will likely feel that way in 2024.

Man, your post hit the mark.
People here are so tired of losing, they quickly choose a path that seems like it could be a winner…even though winning may prevent the necessary actions from taking place.
The GOP power needs to be wrestled from The old guard. That has to happen for sustained success to have a chance.
The administrative state has to be disassembled at the federal level.
I really like Desantis. But until he takes a position on these things it’s premature to move on from Trump.

Trump will not be president again. Period. How is this even debatable at this point?
The choice is binary. Back someone who can win or elect a Democrat.

DeSantis was a founding member of the Freedom Caucus you twit.

So name some candidates we think can get more than 81 million votes….

That’s your argument? How about a candidate who can win independent votes in states that matter?
Or a candidate that doesn’t so inflame the electorate that 81 million plus votes is needed for a win?

This is really it.
It's somewhat troubling that folks still believe Trump is electable.
If Donald Trump is lucky and Ron Desantis is forgiving. Then the next time he sees the inside of the White House, it'll be as a dinner guest.

You don't actually believe Biden got 81 million votes do you? Not even the marxists believe that.

Republicans blame Democrats for it and Democrats blame Republicans for it, but we're all guilty. Rational discourse in America is dead.
Almost everyone actually willing to talk politics is hardline, myself included. I'm old enough and weathered enough now, that I see the folly in trying to rationally debate someone whose mind will not be swayed, as well as realizing that my own beliefs are carved deeply into stone.
You can eviscerate someone with actual facts and still not budge them even a fraction of an inch. The people in the middle that actually can be swayed and tend to believe they're apolitical, are influenced by the media, social media, big tech, Hollywood and the music industry who they believe to be truthful. Say something that goes against their programmed reality and they automatically assume you're a fringe conspiracy theorist.
I'm not saying that's everyone.... but it's definitely most people in today's America. We all have our own version of truth and we won't back off of it. But I digress.
I will support whoever can convince me that they can get America steered back even slightly in the right direction. I didn't vote for Trump in 2016 because I thought he was full of shite (I didn't vote for Hillary, either, I sat that race out) but he convinced me through his actual body of work in office that he knew what the hell he was doing- in spite of his propensity toward egoism. I grew to thoroughly enjoy his policy and tolerate his faults because of it. Ron? Remains to be seen. But being cultists for either candidate right now is folly. I'm currently still 100% team Trump for a vast cornucopia of reasons, but I'm not saying I couldn't be swayed over the next two years because that's a LOOOOONG time for the landscape to change. Call me a loyal Trump supporter right now, sure, even when he irritates me to no end with his self inflicted narcissistic gaffes. Tell me I am leery of Ron because of the way the establishment is tripping all over themselves to back him, sure, even when I think he could potentially be the Republican candidate of the future if he can't be bought by the Uniparty.

Well stated. I like Trump a lot. I like Desantis very much. Way too early (imo) to be drawing up sides and sniping at each other (though I’m sure our Prog friends are enjoying the show).
A lot to play out yet over these next coupla years.
