You’re listening to the talking heads on the TV too much. It wasn’t the right call.

Think Kellen Mond in 2018. Ball on ground, player grasps ball with knee on ground. Play dead right there. And he only had one hand on the ball!

Brooks had two hands with knee/leg on ground. Play over. The fact that a player knocked the ball loose after that is irrelevant. And that he was out of bounds is also irrelevant. Play already over. That’s why the ref on the spot IMMEDIATELY signaled LSU ball. He saw Brooks with the ball and knee/ body on the ground. And the replay official had to overturn the call on the field.

This bullshite about “complete” possession is just that. Completely made up by the TV guy. Brooks grasps the ball with 2 hands while on the ground. Play over.

Think of it this way. If the defender had touched out of bounds with one of his feet after picking up the ball with the other knee already down what's the call.

This call should be the same

The no call on the long Bama TD. Perkins was held, then pull down by his helmet. That one frustrated me the most.

Regardless, the better team won and it’s a good day to be a Tiger!

Please site this rule where a player without possession who is out of bounds overrides a player in bounds with possession?

Go look it up. It's what they based the call on and the only reason they reviewed it.

It's a dumb rule, but they got it right. You can see when they explained it to Kelly that he knew, regardless of what he felt about the rule, he couldn't really argue it.

Perkins was being held on the collar by 54 as Young scooted past to throw the late touchdown.

These are not ticky tack missed calls

Only one was even missed and the ball was barely tipped. The other two were the right calls.

Hanny said it was the right call per the rule

Holding or offsides aren't dangerous plays.

Look, I thought big hits were great when I was 19, not so much anymore. If he hits him there, he could legitimately injure him for the rest of his life. Any manifestation of a player egregiously gunning for a head shot, especially when the QB is very clearly giving himself up, should be penalized.

It's not about the result, it's about the act.

1. The non targeting call where the players blatantly launches at Daniels after he gave him self up. The only reason he didn’t hit him fully is because Daniels dodged it. Those are the plays you want to call as targeting and should not have been picked up. Absolute garbage. If the ply was reverse on Young it would have been called.

Agreed. That should have still been a penalty. The guy wasn't even close, Daniels was already into his slide when he launched himself and he launched himself low. The fact that he didn't hit him should have no bearing on that call. It's a bullshite dangerous play.

2. The out of bounds touching non fumble recover. What kinda BS is that… the lsu player had 2 hands on the ball. The out of bounds player then knocked it from his hand.

He did NOT knock it from his hand, all he had to do is touch it and he killed it. It's a terrible rule.

Idk, he missed him on the slide and it was a bang bang play. I'm fine with that flag being pulled up.

The out of bounds fumble was a stupid interpretation of a stupid rule that needs to change IMO.

I couldn't see the tip, it was too close to overturn IMO.

But you can’t punish him for not doing it. You have zero way of knowing if he jumped over him on purpose.

The day we start flagging someone for not hitting the QB will be outrageous

The refs weren’t great but they were nothing like they used to be. Bama had a lot of stuff called on them that they normally wouldn’t have gotten.

for example. The roughing the passer call in the first quarter.

You don’t throw a flag for someone being almost offsides or almost holding. He missed, no flag.

He didn’t miss. I’m not saying it was targeting, but it was certainly a defensive player hitting a sliding QB, and thats always a flag, even if he didn’t fully hit him.

What I was going to bring up.

Bama fans were griping about the non block in the back call on Daniels OT TD. Every fan thinks they get screwed.

Yeah, I don't understand how anyone can call this a bad call. Call it a bad rule all you want.

You seem to be ignoring the launch component. Hitting the quarterback is legal. Launching is NEVER legal. So comparing a missed launch to a decision simply not to hit the quarterback late is not valid.

Yes. He did knock it from his hands AFTER he had it grasped with 2 hands while on the ground.
The Bama player touching the ball did not kill the play. Play was already dead.

The nonsense about Brooks not having “complete” possession is just made up. It’s a bullshite interpretation, extrapolating from the rules about a completed pass.

This is unfolding like people falling for the tuck rule and Calvin Johnson touchdown explanation.

People need to chill and enjoy the win. Sometimes things even out.

Taylor blocked in the back on Daniels OT run.

Yeah I said it. And you know for damn sure you were looking to see if there was a flag.

We won. Not because of refs. Enjoy it
